What size should I be?

Quote  |  Reply

Maybe this may seem like a weird question but I'm just hoping for something more besides recommended numbers on a scale and recommended body fat percentages to measure my achievements.

I'm 5'1, 123lbs. I've lost 52lbs so far and wanna get down to 110lbs. The link below was taken today in clothes I just bought yesterday. The shorts is a size 10 and the top is a large.

Before you say it, yes, I know I'm kinda flabby because I don't have time to work out much but I am a small build person and for some reason I think at where I am now I shouldn't still be wearing a size 10 and Large.

If anyone has an inkling of what size a person of my build should be or normally wears, I'd appreciate it. At least with that I can work towards that--once I solve the problem of getting in more strength training. Thanks :)

I'm your height and have worked in women's retail, so just eyeballing it I would say you look like a typical 4-6 US.

Thanks anaxandra, I forgot to mention though that I have no idea where the clothes I bought comes from since the shop where I got them gets clothes from all over the world. I have plenty of clothes in all kinds of numbers LOL but lowest is a 7.

Clothes sizes can be soooo crazy (especially women's clothing).  You really don't look like you should be wearing a size 10 or a large but it may just be the brands you are buying.  Normally I would say you're probably a lot smaller than that.  I've noticed that different brands can be as much as 2-3 sizes different for me though.

I'm a bit taller but about your weight, my tops range from 2 to 6 and bottoms, well.. I have pants that are a size 10 that fit nicely and a pair of loose-fitting pants that are a size 4 Surprised. The sizes vary from one brand to another and even within a certain line of clothing, the fabric is a factor too. You look like a 4 to me based on that picture, but you could of course get a measuring tape and check from a size chart.

I don't think you look flabby at all! You look great!

I agree with the others though sizing is crazy. I range from a 2 to a 6 and you weigh less than me... Its totally random.

it might just be these darn !@#% asian sizes. i've had a friend complain to me that when she got back to singapore from the US, she went from an S to a M/L in 3 seconds.

You look like about a size 4 in american sizes, and tops definitely a small or med.

I used to be 5'1" and 122-125 lbs and I wore a size 4-6 in pants and small - medium tops (I have a medium chest). It always does vary by brand though.

I really, really wish I could get back to that weight!  Maybe someday...

All I saw was the cupcakes!

Definitely varies by brand of clothing, and style.  Sizes are also different for different departments, for example, junior's department clothing fit smaller (so you'd be wearing a bigger size) compared to women's department clothing (you'd be wearing a smaller size).

I hate shopping because sizes vary so much!  It's annoying how you fit into a certain size for one brand but a completely different size for another brand.   I can't run into a store and just grab something.  I have to actually try it on.  Bleah!

Well I think I found my CC Twin LOL.  I am 5'1" 123 lbs I have lost about 40 lbs so far and my goal is 110lbs.  I live in the US and shop in many different stores but mostly lower cost market (Wal-mart, Target etc. maybe Kohl's or JC Penny's if I come into money).  I am not able to see your picture as I am at work and the site is blocked.  But for me I have pants from a size 4 to a size 10 and they all fit.  The 4s are a little tight and the 10s a little bigger but I can wear them all I think I look best in a size 6.  I am a C cup so I wear small to medium tops.  My dress/work cloths are usually smaller sizes then my jeans/casual cloths.  I bought new cloths about 7-8 lbs ago (130 or so) and they are a size 8 but I need a belt.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
