Slimfast Shakes - Just saying ...

Quote  |  Reply

Every time I add a Slimfast Milk Chocolate Shake to my day my nutrient analysis and grade for the day bumps way up!  Today it went from a B+ to an A with it.  I love those shakes because they fill me up and are chocolatey - but always amazes me that they are that 'good' for you!

I'm using slimfast too! It sure is better than a meal from the drive thru!

I keep some on-hand for those rare occasions that I'm not hungry, but know I will be later and don't want to wolf down 800 calories in a sitting because I didn't eat earlier.

I think they taste like ****, if **** were liquid chalk. But that's just me.

I really enjoy them. Probably a trick of my subconscious. Ooooh.

I'm not so sure they are that good for you.  How many ingredients are on the list and how much sugar/carbs are included?  Sometimes I think CC gives good grades based on only low fat or something :(  I'd rather get my vitamins/proteins/minerals from real food!

I stick to the chocolate ones

Reason number 347 that the food grades on CC shouldn't be paid attention to.

I guess it depends on ones lifestyle. I enjoy the taste and convenience.

Okay in a pinch but there are definitely better protein supplements out there. Though technically I think SF is more meal replacement. If I had to pick from something I can find on the shelf in 7-11 I'd probably grab a Muscle Milk Light or Boost first. I pretty much stick to Isopure stuff despite liking the taste of the GNC house power better.

I agree. Eat real food, not shakes and bars with a million ingredients and chemicals. I am very busy just like everyone else these days, but I manage to eat real food rather than things with wrappers and bar codes. Prepare meals ahead of time and they can be just as convenient as a Slimfast shake. Leftovers are a Godsend.

If you like slim fast you would LOVE body by vi protein shakes. Nutrients are through the roof...90 calories 1gram of fat, only 75mg of sodium, 5 grams of fibre 1 gram sugar and 12 grams of protein. Amazing with almond milk and 1 cup of frozen berries!

I like the shakes - they really fill me up.  And since I'm not obsessed with eating whole foods all the time I feel relieved that I have a go-to item that I enjoy, fills me up, and includes a good level of protein and fiber.  As for whether CC scoring is inaccurate - the way I look at is ANYTHING that motivates me to make better choices is ALL that matters.  And SF shake is MUCH better than a bag of chips.

I either don't eat or do fast-food So slimfast works for me.

If it works for you, then go for it. And I agree that it would be better than eating a big mac and fries. But wow, I hadn't looked at those in a while. Sugar is the THIRD ingredient and there are 18g in a shake! That's crazy and would definitely keep me from drinking one.

I used to do the shakes once in a while for breakfast a few years ago.  They never filled me up and I didn't think they tasted that good either.  Maybe that has improved over the years?

That's pretty cool. Haven't use slimfast since my 20s x'D - Once my protein shakes run out I'll have to give it a looksy. Thanks for posting

Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast does the same for me. I kind of cheat though and will make it into a milk shake or smoothie of sorts. I like to add ice and frozen berries to it. First because it makes it more filling, second because with out the berries it tastes so-so and third, without the ice I feel like it tastes warm. I know, that's a bit odd, but even with ice cold milk it just tastes and feels warm.  :)

I travel and am in and out of hotels for 3 wks out of every month.. its hard to try and lose weight with this life style so I drink slim fast for lunch and sometimes dinner... eating out everyday gets old and never feel great after i do that,  i do eat about a 500-600 calorie breakfast daily from the hampton inns im always staying in so atleast there is some real food going in me

I travel too but still manage to pack my own food. Dry ice is amazing! Be careful with produce coming back to the USA though. I'd never resort to over processed, over salted, over sugared garbage. I make smoothies using real fruit, milk, and plain yogurt instead of reaching for a powdered mix.

I never really paid attention to the food grades on here, mostly just my own knowledge of what foods are good and bad and the calories, but this actually kind of confirms my suspicion that the grades are kind of off. I think there is more to the grade of a food than just fat or sugar or whatever else it seems to solely grade on. Like honey is a C- and although it is not the best thing to eat, when compared with sugar it is much, much better. So why is it graded against all other foods instead of just against sugar or something? I mean, that's like comparing a turkey sandwich to a glass of iced tea. It makes no sense... If you're going to be graded on something.. be graded on choosing honey over sugar because it is much better for you. Any thoughts?

I can't believe people actually think SlimFast shakes are GOOD for you.

C'mon...

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
