I think I really need to hide the scale and stop worrying about the number so much. I am currently in maintenace and have stayed on track eating around 1500 calories, drinking plenty of water, getting an A rating on my food log every day and I gained 2lbs. Now I know it is probably excess water as I have not eaten 7000 calories in excess to actually gain 2 lbs but boy is it frustrating and plays into the obsession with food and weight. Anyone else find themselves a slave to the scale and putting more emphasis on the number than they should? Crazy as it sounds my fear is I'll wake up, step back on the scale and I'll be 154lbs again, just like that. I know that won't happen and I am trying so hard to stay on track. AHHHH. I guess I am just sick of playing the game and want to be able just to enjoy life without worrying so much. Sorry for my vent.

I think it's really healthy that you're aware that you might be obsessing about the scale. A lot of us obsess about it and don't realize how far from reality our concerns really are.
From what I've heard and read, maintenance is the hardest part of weight loss - and it's the time when you really have to replace bad habits with good ones or else... you gain it back. It sounds like you monitor your food closely enough that your clothes will tell you if you've really slipped. Maybe you can rely on a pair of pants that will be tight instead of the number on the scale?
Congrats for reaching maintenance! Did you give yourself a reward for accomplishing that?

Don't apologize for venting - we all have to do it every once in a while! :)
Maybe try putting the scale away and start using a measuring tape to keep track of your weight? As long as you're not expanding, no worries!

Something that I want to add to this thread is that the scale is evil. Focusing on it and constantly weighing yourself does more harm than it does help. i think it is better to focus on the way you feel, ie more energized and the way your clothes fit. i took my scale completly out of my house because i knew was losing inches and what not but the water gain was ridiculous so it had to go. Now i literally weigh myself maybe once every 3 weeks and I have yet to be disappointed. Don't let those moving numbers tell you you're not doing awesome because you are, it just takes patience.
