I seem to be eating loads of sugar through my food- actimel, liga, wetabix, apples etc. even fat free milk has more sugar than full fat! I drink about 1 litre a day. I was trying to be healthy but can't work out what is good! Help!

Stop eating processed foods.

Natural sugar from fruits is not a problem.

Drink water instead of 1 L of milk.

And don't worry about not getting enough calcium. Assuming that you eat a balanced diet (with some dairy, but not overkill), you will get enough. And if you have osteoporosis (or some other problem or are just worried) then take a calcium supplement (pill).

Or if you like seafood - buy canned salmon. Usually comes with the vertebrae, which are edible and an excellent source of calcium. Plus all the healthy-goodness that is salmon!

Always have drunk loads of milk- used to be about 2 liters of full fat but it never affected my weight negatively. So I also love apples and usually eat about 5/6 a day but the sugar in them seems to e bold! So am I hearing you correctly? Fruit sugar like from apples is good and I can ignore the sugar side and sugar from say a mars bar is bad so don't eat them? ( I don't but just trying to get point across)

If you're worried about sugar, drop Liga (if you're talking about the biscuits) and Weetabix. Apples won't do you any bad.

Who said anything about gaining weight? Your original post never mentioned weight gain, nor did my reply.

You're worried about "sugar sugar everywhere", so I'm telling you to drink less milk.

And yes, sugar from candy affects you differently than sugar from fruit. Fruit has fiber. Candy doesn't have fiber. The effects on your blood glucose and insulin are markedly different.

No one mentioned weight gain ( except me) I was just saying it never did me harm - I just love it. Thanks for the clarity on the fruit v candy sugars, I love fruit and eat a lot of it- I just was not aware of the bold sugars in milk and fruit. Will try to cut out liga, do you have any suggestions ref alternatives for milk and snacks to replace liga? I'm trying porridge with water and some flax seed to replace the weetabix. Thanks for the helpful advice so far guys, appreciate it :-)

I like to drink unsweetened almond milk or soya milk instead of dairy milk, but I don't know whether you like those things. What is it that you like about liga? The sweetness, or just the texture? You could find something similar with less sugar if you figured out what draws you to it.

Thank you, off to shops. On the liga, I think it's the malty flavor and a bit of soft crunch!
