Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday Binge...and I gain 15 pounds?? Fat or water weight??

Quote  |  Reply

Ya, Thursday I weighed 289.3 pounds....Monday (today) i weighed in at 304 pounds......I Ate nonstop from Thursday night to Saturday night...Please tell me I am just retaining a TON of water.

I got right back on track yesterday but I didnt work out yesterday. Today I am 100% back on track, worked out and everything. I dont know what to do, Should I drink a ton of water? Should I be worried about all that weight turning into fat again? Im going to weigh myself this Thursday, Im just so scared I officially returned to the 300+ pound club already......

O god plz let this be water retention. Im trying my best right now not to freak out emotionally, I already went through some hard times this morning about a total different situation.

Do you think you ate 52,500 calories over manintenance in those three days? If not, it isn't all fat gain.

Of course, I think you should exercise and drink lots of water, but that won't guarantee that all the weight you put on won't come off. Sometimes we have to learn hard lessons. Don't freak out. Dust yourself off and learn from a mistake.

15 lb. gain in 3 days? Is that even possible?

drink lots of water and just get back on track.

dont weigh yourself for a week, and i promise you max gained like 5 pounds

Drink lots of water, eat healthy and keep up your workouts and most of it should come back off before too long.  I am up 5 lbs since Fri, sucks but hopefully not for long!

similar thing happned to me.

i ate about 1000 calories above my maintance on friday saturday and sunday. and i ended up gaining a pound each day.

cant fathom what went wrong? i was maintaining a 1500-1600 daily on a 2100 calorie requirement.

it doesnt make sense either.

3 pounds = 10,500 calories.

as per what ive eaten i should gain a pound at the max.

Ya I defintaly am drinking alot of water. This whole "Binge" thing will NOT happen again lol. I DO NOT want to develope a binge behavior. I changed my program from 100% diet to "LifeStyle" change instead. I made a few adjustments to where I eat 95% more healthy than I did before I started this weight loss journey. I will eat healthy breakfast and lunches every day, but as for dinner....I will just eat whatever my parants make but in a "Normal" serving size, instead of a UNHUMAN size plate of food that I used to eat before all this. This means somedays I may consume 2500 calories whilest most days I will be right around 2k. Either way 2500 or 2k I will lose weight. I am no longer in a rush to lose weight. I will however continue to work out 6 days a week, because I do want to get to my goal weight of 245 eventually.

"Slowly but Surely" is the phrase I am going to stand by for 2011. My main focus for a New Years Resolution is to become a "Better Person". I turn 20 next September and from here on out its about "More then Just Losing Weight".

that's the right mindset to go.

Way to get back on track!!! I've struggled with the holidays starting off with Thanksgiving did really well when I got back then just couldn't get back on and now with Christmas I've been bad. I've gained about 7lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Alot of it has been fast food and sodas. I'm going to have to wean my body from such fatty foods cause that's what I crave. I went from a size 22 down to size 12 and I don't want to go back up. It's good to know that I'm not the only one struggling during the holidays and how reading this forum helps me get motivated to get back on track. Good Luck everyone!!

 It's probably water retention/bloating. I swell like a balloon if I eat the wrong things or too much of them, and my weight always returns to normal within 2-3 days.

Yes, drink water, and try to avoid excess sodium, but otherwise, do what you normally do.

It will go away, and I highly doubt you gained 15 real pounds in three days. You may have gained 1-3 real pounds if you consumed enough, but that will go away soon, too.

Don't freak out too much, just remember what this felt like  as your motivation to resist going too overboard next time.

@raychel

its funny when people say dont freak out . in most cases it certainly wont help the person freaking out.

@alex

this is partly why i weigh myself daily. when i was gaining a pound a day for the 3 days i tried to eat a 200-400 calories above my daily intake. that was enough for me to call it quits and not take any risks.

I don't know if is fat gain, water gain or whatever gain but I was 12/22 144 lb and today I am 151 lb. Several good dinners and no excersize brought me back up in 150 range. I really hope I can drop it after New Years as fast as I put it on. I hate Holidays!

Its been 1 week since I went on this horrendous 3 day Christmas binge. I weighed in today and was definatly shocked...3 Days binge eating like I did and I only gained 2 pounds of fat.....I drank a TON of water over the last few days and it definatly payed off. Now that I have changed the way I eat dinner, I don't think I will ever have a binge problem again.

Damn it feels really good to be where I am now. The body works in very mysterious ways !!

 True! It never does, but it still feels like a helpful thing to say, haha.

it is completely natural to binge ...i have been overtraining undereating for awhike i havent been able to work out i have been getting constipated and other gi issues for the past month have been walking around like a zombie. i opened a box of clif bars and attacked it it started off with half a clif bar on a tortilla and pb with a lil protein powder ended up into clif bars rolled into tortillas frozen cookie doe cookies after frozen cookies into handfuls of cereals this lasted from tuesday to thursday nights xmas party at school. ive been drinking pepto and milk of magnesia to get over most of it when i went to the doctor today we went over everything and he was like you seem fine right now looking back at it it made sence,,, my body was worn out, couldnt decide to build muscle drop fat couldnt make out nutrient cell molecules,

its normal to binge even people that arent on a deficit do it. when we do it our body requires it and you know what if you tell your body no and stop it your just delaying the inevitable
