Um.. how much do boobs weigh?!

Quote  |  Reply

So I'm 5"5 a size 34G and 142lbs.

I'm a size UK10 so when a friend asked how much I weighed and I said '142lbs' (at my last measure a month ago :P) she was a bit shocked and said I had to be lying or had weighed myself wrong. This got me thinking.. how much does a boob weigh?! Big bangers have to have an effect.

I did some research and came up with a site that says a single G cup sized breast weighs 8lbs.

8lbs!!

All this time I have been aiming for around 130lbs, when in fact if I didn't have these knockers, I'd be a 128lbs? 8lbs a boob doesn't sound quite right to me, but then again, big breasts are pretty heavy. Does anyone know a weight?

That really doesnt surprise me, I mean, I have had big breasts sense I was like 11, and I think pretty much anything over a C cup has to have a significant factor in your weight. I have DD's and I would be surprised if they turned up weighing around 8lbs each.

However I think most will account for their breasts in their total wieght goal. lol. This post gave me the giggles. XD

I am going to be very honest and with a little embarrassment tell you that I have weighed my boobs before. My new scale doesn't do it for some reason, but with the right positioning with my old scale I was able to weigh my 36DD's and they came up to be 10 lbs overall, so 5 lbs each.

Assuming my scale was correct, I wouldn't be surprised if your G cups wieghed 8 lbs each.

I am a 38 double G (as far as I know) and my boobs weigh roughly 8 lbs :P

I used my wiifit to weigh them, with my fiance holding my boobs XD That sentence makes me laugh.

And to Mmaynar1, why embarrassed? Nothing to be ashamed about :)

you lucky girls....anything more than c cup probably adds more than 4 lbs to you weight...

i feel small...

So I can claim I'm 118lb, plus boobs? I mean that sounds awesome.

Ha, I'd love to be able to say that! I just don't have the nerve and I think most people would laugh at me..

The whole idea of me losing weight was for my body not my boobs. I know I've lost weight off my boobs and I'm absolutley fine with that, helps keep me in proportion and I know I'll probably lose more. But the idea of subtracting my breast weight and using that number as my actual weight.. very appealing. If a bit cheat-y.

I suppose if you had someone stand behind you and hold them up...

Of course I'm not married so there's nobody here to do it.  Do you think the mailman would mind?

Lol, Claireleaine!  I've got an often cute mailman...but darn, my hubby would be mad!

seriously, my aunt and mother both had breast reduction surgery.  My aunt asked her dr how much he took out and he said 8lbs from one side and 7lbs from the other and she's still a B cup.

And depending on how you look at it, some of us gals won't lose weight in our chests because it's just hereditary breast tissue.  You can lose fat, but tissue is here to stay.

I've been a DD or DDD at 150lbs and 250lbs.  Those puppies aren't going anywhere unless a scalpel is involved!

Sorry, I don't belong here with my barely-Bs, but this was too funny. The thought of trying to weigh one of them made me laugh - but I can see how a larger-sized woman would definitely be able to, easily, on a kitchen or baby scale!  And, they could weigh as much as a newborn! Surprised

I wish mine were large enough to weigh; I'd do it now just for fun.

OMG - this is the best post ever!! Now I need to go pull down the shades and hit the food scale, hehe!  I just have this vision of plopping down like some really large chicken cutlets! Just like jodiferjunioer, mine stay pretty the same cup-wise regardless of when I was a size 2 or an 18 - sigh! Agree with bairn..we need to start using our boob free weights!!

Here's a relevant quote from "Liar, Liar" to brighten everyone's day.

"Now, let's see.... Weight: 105. YEAH! In your bra!!"

Good luck to you ladies with the huge jugs (pardon the phrase)...and I think you should all include breast weight in your total.  They are a part of your body after all.

...It is mostly fat, no question..adds proportion and beauty to all women.   However if to large they can weigh 8 lbs or more.  But these heavier breast are very hard on the lower back and spine.

I am told when some women diet it is the first place to lose weight...but many  large women see no weight loss there.  What gives?

My theory:the fat content of the breast determines the rate at which they will reduce or not reduce with dieting.  If containing many impurities like pollutants, chemicals and metals...this bad fat is then more difficult to lose and I think maybe one of the main causes of breast cancer.   And this can happen in small breasted women too.

Very difficult being a women nowadays...but it is hard to ignore something in front of you every day.  My significant other has lost a full cup size already, since her dieting started with me, this past Jan 09.

I told her she is losing the bad fat and will put the good fat back on later.

If she does not, then I am quite happy with her just being healthy and at her ideal weight for me to love.

what a surprise: themassageguy is an authority on boobs, too.

i'm pretty sure mine don't weight a pound between them.  i always visualize my body fat in terms of pounds of butter, and--yeah--i couldn't fill a 2-cup measure with the volume of my breasts.  it's one of the reasons that bmi isn't such a great scale for some of us.

This is just too funny! I am a DD and this explains why the BMI chart says I am 40% fat and my home scale says I am 46.5%!!!!! The chart simply doesn't account for humongous boobs!

This totally makes sense. Tonight I was watching celebrity fit club, and a couple girls on the show were around 130 and 140. They appeared fairly overweight however, and being around 140 myself (I'm a healthy weight and BMI), and a 34 DD, I went and googled "how much breasts weigh" and found this forum.

So basically if you are large breasted you are adding a good 10 to 20 lbs of just breast onto your frame! Wow!

So that explains it! The girls on the show were petite with maybe b or c cups.

So that's why 135-140 looks so different on my frame. It's height (5'5 also), and BOOBS!!!

=)~

My little sister had a breast reduction and went from a DD to a big C and they said they took 2.5 off each!!!

Wow, just got an email alert for this post.. forgot about it completly!

I'm now 5ft 7, 32D and weight 127lbs, so I can't legitimately claim that boobs make up a good portion of my weight, but reading back through this gives me the giggles!

Looking back at pictures of myself from around the time I created this, I looks o out of proportion! Those buggers must of been tipping the scales quite heavily..

I'm pretty sure it's genetics. You know, those pesky little things that help determine body composition and where one's body most likes to store fat. I'm currently a DD, at 70 lbs lighter I was a D. If I (or any other of these larger-chested women) were to attempt a less than healthy bmi, we would eventually lose boob-size too, but if genetically inclined, then even with relatively low or normal body fat%, the boobs stay, becaus this is our bodies fave fat store.

I went from a B to a DD in 7th grade before my body had an ounce of fat anywhere else on me... It's definitely genetics.
