Um.. how much do boobs weigh?!

Quote  |  Reply

So I'm 5"5 a size 34G and 142lbs.

I'm a size UK10 so when a friend asked how much I weighed and I said '142lbs' (at my last measure a month ago :P) she was a bit shocked and said I had to be lying or had weighed myself wrong. This got me thinking.. how much does a boob weigh?! Big bangers have to have an effect.

I did some research and came up with a site that says a single G cup sized breast weighs 8lbs.

8lbs!!

All this time I have been aiming for around 130lbs, when in fact if I didn't have these knockers, I'd be a 128lbs? 8lbs a boob doesn't sound quite right to me, but then again, big breasts are pretty heavy. Does anyone know a weight?

I don't think it is all genetics. My mother never had large breast until after she had her 4th child.

It's still genetics, but your mother's genetics caused her to get bigger breasts after she had children.

Go my 32GG (*)(*) weigh 10lbs?

Actually some days the weight on my shoulders feels like more than that.  My single biggest wish is they go away.... fingers crossed all the running I'm doing helps a bit.

Wish I had that problem. I barely have any boobs and the weight that I have lost came from my boobs.

This is too funny.  Just yesterday I got my BF to hold my boobs while I got on the scale to see what the difference would be.  It was 7.7lbs!!!!  I'm a 38F.

Yeah it's genetic. But at 14 I was probably a B then climbed to a C by 18...... and then up from there. So I think it's a combination of age and slight weight gain from  teenagerdom until now....@ 26 I grew 4 sized. But I did know a lot of girls who came back from summer vacation with huge boobs!

I went from 140s to 130s and lost about a cup size. It's all about where you body stores fat. Apple shape, hour glass, or pear.

The reason I replied to this post was like I said--the women I saw were my weight but looked very overweight. I'm in pretty good shape with a healthy bmi and am proportioned (36 26 34) so I just deduced that it must be BOOBS and build differences!

Cheers to all the busty ladies!

Reading through this I have to agree that it is all body composition. I am 5'8" and weigh 155lbs. My BMI is 20% and I am a 34DDD after my second child. I have tried numerous exercises to lose weight in my breast and nothing helps. I have finally received approval from my insurance for a breast reduction surgery, due to persistent migraines, back pain, and spine curvature due to the weight of my breast. I'll let everyone know how my thy take out.

I had a breast reduction went from a G to a D and they took off 9 pounds.  When I lose weight I never lose from my chest, they always stay the same.  I highly sugguest a reduction for the bigger ladies, it's the best decision I ever made !!

Great thread, really. I am 5'4", 145 lbs. and 36F or DDD. I always wondered how much my breasts weight. Just like I tell people that I am 5'7" with 3" heels, now I can say I am 130 without the tits!

I was just wondering, do you have any pain from your boobs? Back, neck, shoulders? Bouncing pain from movement? Because I am about the same size as you!

Well..I was an A cup barely, and just had breast augmentation  4 weeks ago. The implant is 650cc which is about 1.3 pounds each. I'm a 36 dd now.  It also depends on the individual. A 34 dd is going to weigh a lot less than a 42dd for instance. Cup size is dependent on the band size..its a measurement of how much larger than your band you are.

I'm a 34G, too! With a weird size like that... you don't find many other people! But seriously 8lbs apiece... no wonder my posture is so bad! I hope my back doesn't get **** up from these... or at least that they shrink as I lose weight...  :|

This post made me laugh too!

Next time I get weighed at hospital and nurse is surprised by my weight (hopefully not for much longer) I will say "heavy boobs!". ;0)

Well since breasts are mostly comprised of fat tissue the bigger they are the more they will weigh.

When I was the heaviest I had bigger breasts, my weight loss usually came off the breasts first.  I can barely fill a B cup even when I was a 42B I had to buy C cups because bra makers don't think a fat woman can not have boobs I guess.

Luckily now I am down to a 36B which makes bra buying a lot easier, except I still only can buy VS as all other makers cups don't fill right for me.

ok - anybody else have "girls" that are losing at different rates? I was noticeably lopsided the other day when I went to get dressed. That was a bit disconcerting.

It must have affected my subconscious - because last night I had a dream that I lost all my fat, and some crazy biological defect became visible.

Mine probably weight 10  lbs each from what I am reading.  That's a ton of extra weight, I am about a 40I or so.  And, yes, Eye, one is bigger than the other, probably at least a whole cup size different at this point.  I was always large, was a 36 DDD before having children.  I was that size when I was a 25 BMI.  Even at say a 29 BMI, I was the same.  Then I got pregnant.  My boobs literally grew overnight.  It was a race, the boobs won as they got bigger than my abdomen.  Then I breastfed and it got even worse.  Fast forward 12 years and I weaned my youngest ( had very little time in there of being either not pg or nursing) and I thought they might shrink, except they did not.  They are supposed to, very frustrating.  I'm 20 lbs over what I was when I first got pg, and I'm a 40I.

So I am getting a breast reduction in 2 months.  She says she's taking about 7 lbs total.  I'm looking forward to it.  The fast weight loss will be nice too.  :)

well, i'm 5'7, 112lbs, and a size 30DDD or 30E. so i guess they don't weigh all that much. they do make me look a lot fatter than my cousin who is roughly the same height and weight as me.

I have no pain in my back but I have to constantly remind myself to sit up straight because it is so easy to let the weight of the breasts make me slouch over. I go to the gym and work on my back. It's important to have a strong back with large breasts.

Ditto to kathyba, I had back pain from my breasts until I started doing bent-over rows.  Strong rhomboids nixed the slouching and boob-related back pain.

I also lost weight in them unevenly.  My right is a perfectly fitted DD, but my left spills out around the cup.  If I wear a DDD, the left fits but the poor right boob is rattling around in there like a lost thing.  Just started happening with the most recent ten pounds or so.  Definitely hoping it evens out, or I'm going to have to get creative with my bras.  Taking the padding out of some cheap teen bras and putting it into the right side of my bras might help in the meantime.

Edit: they weight about ten pounds together.  I fully intend to start telling people I weigh 145 plus boobs ;)
