What do others do about taking multivitamins? At the end of my day it always says I'm really low in x or y vitamins. I take a multivitamin supplement that more than compensates for certain vitamins that are never in foods. Do I just remain content knowing I am okay, or is there a way to add those into the calculations?

If you're taking the same vitamin every day and you want to log it, you can add it to your food list and save it, then just add it as appropriate so that your supplements are logged.

Out of curiosity, which vitamins are you usually low on?

Like kajikit said, just take the vitamin bottle, put the nutritional information into your food log manually, and then tag it so you can easily add it again.  I do this for my multivitamin and calcium supplement.

even with my multi vitamin im always low in Iron and Potassium.. sigh

I just got a multi vitamin and now my iron is too high (i manually put in my multivitamin) next time I buy some im gonna have to get one with no iron, its nice to know im getting enough from just my diet

I need a good multi to cover those. I bought one a few weeks ago, (it was pathetic, I was sitting on the floor in the vitamin shoppe going through every single bottle to find the one high in those three areas) I thought I found the perfect one.. got home and took it. Well.. tried to anyway, for three days. It makes me extremely ill. Sigh... back to looking, I suppose.

You can get iron in a multivitamin.  Some have it; some don't.  You just have to check.  Many multivitamins contain a little bit of calcium, but they can't cover much of your daily requirement because then your multivitamin would be enormous, so just take a separate calcium supplement.

As for potassium, you can't get it in a supplement.  You have to get it in food.  It's in just about everything (though many labels don't bother to list it), but it's found in greatest concentrations in fruits and vegetables.  I highly recommend cantaloupe.  It's got a ton of potassium for not that many calories.

I had the Women's Alive... it had all three and yeah, it was huge. Total horse pill. And you were supposed to take three of em a day. I tried taking one with each meal and taking them all together. But it seriously made me ill. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I'm going to try cantaloupe for sure. And I'll probably just get separate iron and calcium supplements.

just a side note to what dolphinclick said, you can actually get potassium in a supplement form. If you find you are struggling to get this in your diet then I would advocate using a supplement if you exercise heavily/lift weights regularly. It is important to help prevent muscle cramping which could adversely affect the strength of your muscles for your workouts. Its also crucial for controlling blood pressure and for working in conjunction with the effects of sodium in balancing water retention in your cells.

That said, I do second the idea of adding cantelope to your diet its stats in potassium are pretty high. Also try potatoes and bananas if your not low carbing.

im definitely going to look more for the iron and potassium supplements, if checked a couple times and never saw them (but i didnt look really hard). And since i have just started the P90X, im defiantly lifting heavier then i ever have! lol
