My waist is naturally broad

Quote  |  Reply

Okay. I have a very small bust size and I am naturally pretty broad.

Small breasts and a broad stomach don't go...

I understand how to flatten one's stomach... but how to narrow your stomach?

I mean my stomach is already kind of flat but I want to narrow it...

- Much appreciated

Mine is too. If you look at my pic I am uneven on each side. Dont ask me but I can't get mine thinner either. I'm doing a lot of oblique exercises right now and I actually think I'm getting wider. But I think it's something that just takes time. I'll let ya know how it goes. Lol. :)

I'm pretty sure that's not possible.

Everyone is built differently; it's best to just learn to love and accept oneself :]

Remove some ribs?

You narrow your stomach the same way you flatten your stomach, burn fat.  All the crunches and side-bends and pilates in the world won't make your stomach flatter or narrower.

I apologize in advance for the "relaxed" nature of this website. If you have read anything from T-nation you already know. It IS however a great article about keeping a waist as small as possible.  ;-)

I enjoyed the info. I'm not certain the pro's on CC would agree 100% but atleast the part of over working your abs made good sense. Maybe that's why I'm getting wider. I went to take a folow up pic yesterday and became completely depressed thinking 'maybe it's my period or something.' I think I'm going to cut back on the intense abdominal work I've been doing.

Oblique exercises do make you wider, especially if you involve weights. They are not a good idea at all.

Years ago I did side bends with weights in my hands and I absolutely built my obliques up. That is what happens. There are far better exercises for trimming the waistline than that one. I do a combination of about twenty different exercises now—I vary them—and my waist is at 23 inches. I agree with the poster who said fat burning is essential, however. Your hard work will not show up until the fat comes off.

Oh, BTW, I see what you are talking about with the unevenness. Sometimes the body goes through that as it is losing fat. It should even back out eventually. I had something similar happen at about that same spot a long time ago, but it melted away. If it doesn't disappear, well, no one is symmetrical, anyway. Wink But it should.

Dayum! That is one of the BEST articles I've ever read. Awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the article Iknowmychicken. I never realized that all those crunches can actually deter me from the look I want. I'm def gonna slack a little on the ab work now. Thanks so much for posting it!

You're welcome! Laughing

Great info here, but of course...you can't change genetics either.  I have the small breasts, no waist look also...and I've been that way since I was a child.  Even when I was tiny, I never had much of a true "waist" and felt like I was broad through the middle.  At my goal weight of 115-118, I still have a wide stomach without any fat on the sides...oh well!

this is like asking for natural male enhancement :)  we are stuck with some of the things we have.

what about bicycle crunches?

cooldude, please keep in touch and tell me what works for you. As many others have replied, I also have this problem. Along with broad shoulders, AND broad hips. After my big shoulders are the small breasts, then a big chunk of me is in my center. Instead of building up our sides by working the obliques, maybe some good stretches to elongate the muscles? Maybe too, some excersizes that pump up the bust area? I dunno, just some thoughts. Hang in there and keep in touch!

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
