How much weight can you lose a day or a week?

I was wondering how much could you lose in a day or a week. Lets say you cut calories and walk 30 min a day, 5 day a week.

Safely in a week, maybe one pound or less. Weight fluctuates all day every day. You won't see a steady daily decrease on the scale, it will bounce all over.

1 pound or less. Depends on weight and how much you actually have to lose.

In one day? The scales can change by 1-5 lbs in just a day.. depending on what you ate and when, how well hydrated you are and whereabouts you are in your monthly cycle.. a day to day loss assessment is meaningless. You might just as easily lose 2 pounds or gain 2 in just one day and it wouldn't mean you did anything wrong.

Logging your weight daily, over a length of time you will be able to see a weight TREND and that can be very meaningful. The green line on your weight log shows this trend. If the green trend line is heading south you are losing weight, if it's going north you are gaining.

In a week? Your results for weight loss will vary depending on your current weight, age, height and how active you are / your general lifestyle as well as your calorie intake (aiming for neither too high nor too low).

I saw that you joined a thread to lose 10 lbs by Halloween, which is just three weeks away.

I have to say, this goal is exceedingly unlikely, especially if that is you in your avatar. I would guess maybe 1 lb per week, a total loss of 3 lbs (possibly 4) by Halloween depending on how healthy you are eating and if keeping to a small deficit per day. You do not look very overweight in that pic, so a loss rate of more than this is probably not healthy for you.

Your weight loss plan (as stated in the OP) is perfect for safe, steady and sustainable weight loss. Estimating loss at 0.5 -1 lb per week is more realistic if one is not excessively overweight.

I can lose 2 kg of my weight within a week through regular cardio workouts and strict diet plan.

I use green tea, citrus fruits juices, vegetables salad, and green vegetables soups for the weight loss which lose the weight more quickly and effectively.

alexander456, she wasn't asking what YOU could lose in a week..

irachel was asking what SHE could lose in a week with a reduced calorie diet and a 30 minute walk 5 days a week.

Thanks for the reply. It's very helpful. I was confused because the scale does fluctuate when I weigh myself daily which was very frustrating. And I agree with you on losing 1lb per week because it doesn't seem impossible :) I'm not over weight, I just want to be fit and well thin. Thanks again!

If you want to lose 10 pounds in 3 weeks it might be possible. I am sure it has been done before. A lot of people might say it is unhealthy. Yet there are some that may say it is OK. Find what you want to do then read up on what you decided.

If you need an example and or ideas here's this: One time I lost 20 pounds in 2 months by not eating much solid food and mainly drinking what I consumed. I also worked out a lot. That's an example of how it could possibly work. The psychological part was tough though. Being outdoors  helped.

Yes as long as you eat healthy and exercise you show be find
One more quick question: are there any exercise that focuses on losing body fat and after that is accomplished I could then focus on toning my body?? Or does losing fat and toning goes hand in hand?

A reasonable rate of weight loss is about 1% a week.  So the more you weigh, the more you can lose.  But if you are not overweight, it could be less.

In general, you want to exercise as well as diet because you want to maximize fat loss and not muscle loss.  And the goal is really to look smaller, not just weigh less.  That is when the exercise comes in.  I weighed about 125 when I was in my early twenties.  I did not exercise very much.  Fast forward thirty years and I weighed well over 250.  Almost 3 years ago, I had a heart attack.  I started exercising and watching my diet and now I weigh in the high 130's and work out 5 times a week.  But I am smaller overall than I was at 125 all those years ago.  I know because I still have a couple of the pieces of clothing and I can look at pictures.

Since you are not overweight, you might find that by exercising and eating healthy you could get smaller and not have your weight change.
