Weight Loss on Vacation?
What are all of your best tips for keeping up with a diet, while on vacation? I'm going with three friends, so I don't know what to prepare for specifically. We might eat out, or in, or the hotel we stay at might have a buffet or something. I have no idea, and no way to find out. I'd like to prepare for everything. Any tips you've got to offer help!
Thanks a bunch. ^_^

I just came back from a two week vacation - 8 days of it was on a cruise ship. I was told that the average weight gain on a cruise is 1-2 pounds a day!!!!!. I managed to only gain (and since lose) 2.5 pounds. I walked a lot, and I swam when I could. The other thing was that with the buffets, I tried to pick out the foods that I would eat on a daily basis- didn't get too crazy and when I was finished, I got up and left. If I lingered, I found I was looking too long at more foods that I really could not afford calorie wise. It worked for me.
Here's some things I try to do:
- Find the fitness center at the hotel and make friends with it! My experience has been that usually that's the best place to get free bottled water and fruit in the morning for breakfast :)
- If there is a buffet, limit yourself to one trip. Have what you want, but watch your portions.
- When you eat out, ask for your meal without sauces or ask for them on the sides.
- If the meal comes with a high-cal side like fries or potatoes or something, ask to substitute veggies or a salad.
- Don't be afraid to not eat everything on your plate! I always struggle with feeling wasteful if I don't eat everything, but I just have to remind myself that I am not a human garbage disposal.
Overall, be aware of what you're putting in your body, but don't limit yourself to the point where you don't have fun. You're on vacation! Splurge a little - just get back to work when you get home :)
Good luck!

Well you are doing the best thing you can do right now - making a plan.
I just posted my plan in our slimming minis challenge. You are welcome to check it out. It is post #71
It basically says that I am writing everything that I eat down and using my husband to keep me accountable. If you don't come up with a plan, you aren't going to be able to succeed. Come up with something that will work for you.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
