Why would you eat less on your workout days?

What activity level did you select?

One rule of thumb on eating times to accustom your self with is to have your meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) after your workout. This is the best time to eat owing to your increased metabolism stimulated by strenuous physical activity. Your body immediately uses the calories from the food to replenish the lost ones. Chances of the calories obtained from your meal being converted to storage forms (i.e glycogen & fat) are greatly reduced. Just ensure that you make healthy food choices. Select foods rich with fibre and protein (lean meat & legumes) as they will keep you satisfied longer. Also substitute carbs e.g rice, potatoes, noodles & the likes for vegetables. Vegetables are a far better choice as a source of carbs because they contain, vitamins, fibre, antioxidants, & the list goes on and on

Sometimes to keep yourself from destroying your healthy diet & life style, splurge on your favourite food once a week. Enjoy a slice of Pizza or chicken burger outside. But still make sure that on the day you choose to splurge, the amount of calories you're delivering to your body doesn't exceed what is needed to maintain your weight.

Great job on your weight loss so far and

Good luck!

Keep in mind, when you start a work out program you increase your muscle mass ladies.  Muscle weighs more than fat.  It is natural to slow down your weight loss in the beginning.  As long as you continue to lose you are good.  If you hit a plateu you need to change things up.

I wiehged 386lbs.

I was a size 38

I lost down to 152lbs-----size 4

Muscle weighs more than fat!!

I agree with the fact that you are not eating enough calories to keep your body fueled. I did boot camp for 3 months and didn't lose much weight...3lbs but I did become firm and lost inches. So with that said you may need to give your body some time to adjust. Do you notice your clothes fitting better? Also, I tried to diet while participating in this activity but ended up feeling tired and cranky. Try to relax...boot camp will make you stronger and you will feel better too.

I lost 41 pounds over the course of 10 weeks. This is some advice that I can pass along being it cost me 1400.00 to get this advise but it worked and I have maintained my weight for over 2 months now.

I also take(2) 3-6-9 Fish Flax and Borage after every meal.

First of all you need to get a measuring scale. You would be amazed how far off we estimate sizes. if you do not have a scale you should not eat more than what fits into the palm of your hand.

Make sure you drink at least 1/2 your body weight in water a day. Example if you weigh 150 lbs make sure you are drinking at least 75 ounces of water a day. do not go any less because your body has a tendancy to store fat when the stomach is empty.

Tip 1 Try to eat within 30 minutes of waking up and limit your coffee to 6 oz a day. More than that it gives you false energy.

Breakfast choices

1-egg, 1/2 cup of fruit, toast 1/2 tsp fat free butter

1-cup plain oatmeal with artificial sweetner and toast 1/2 tsp fat free butter

Mid day snack 10:00 am or so eat 1/2 cup of grapes or 1 small apple. Remember even though fruit is not processed it does have a lot of natural sugars that are really hard to break down in the body. Any fruit should not be eaten after 5 or so in the evening. Avoid bananas and carrots because they are really high in sugar and it takes a long time to leave the body.

Lunch eat something high in protein i.e. 6 oz grilled chicken, 4 oz lean beef, 6 oz of fish avoid Talipia or catfish, they are high in fat. Eat tuna, salmon, cod or perch. All of these need to be grilled with very little season.

Salad with mixture of greens. Choose fat free dressing and always get it on the side.

Skip the cheese and crotons.

Dinner: Eat a salad and high protein meat and either 1/4 cup cooked brown rice  or 1/2 baked potato with 1 tlbsp of fat free butter and Morton Light salt.

Snack eat a 1/2 cup of fruit or a protein shake.

Rule of thumb: your plate should consist of 60% green vegetable 30% protein

and 10% brown rice, 1/2 baked potato or 2 melba toast or 40 calorie 1 slice of toast.

I usually mix my protein shake before I go to the gym and put it in the freezer for few minutes and drink this in place of water. The shakes taste yucky so I drink them when I am really thirsty.

I hope this helps.

I don't know where you got that number of 1400 per day unless you said you wanted to lose weight too fast.  CC says that even sitting still and doing nothing all day, your calories burned are 1880.

With the activity level you are describing, CC says that you are burning 2,430 calories per day.  To lose weight safely and keep it off, the recommendation is to eat about 500 less than you burn, so about 1800 - 1900  calories per day.

If it freaks you out to eat that much, then keep your activity level at "Sedentary," but LOG ALL YOUR ACTIVITY and eat the extra calories that this activity adds to your burn rate.  So, if your goal is 1400 calories, then CC will add the calories burned to your daily calorie goal, and you eat up to your new goal.

I also would agree that you are probably gaining muscle.  The best I ever looked in my life was when I was actually 10 pounds heavier than my "ideal weight," but worked out every day.  Measure your dress size, not your weight loss.

Penny, you seem to have some good points but some are a bit off base. The body can break down fruit just fine. The time of day you eat any food doesn't matter. Fat free everything is not necessary; the body needs good fats like those found in olive oil. Full fat cheese here and there is not a bad thing.

Nothing about calorie counting and weight loss has to be extreme. It's a lifestyle change; a marathon, not a sprint. I've lost 35 pounds, or over 20% of my starting weight by eating fruit, full fat cheese, olive oil and eating dinner past 8 at night and not eating right after my workouts every time.

Lulu, we want everyone here to be successful and healthy! Please eat more than 1200, please, seriously. It's not helping you in the long run. Good luck and be well!

I agree with you 100% this method works for some people but it is not the only way to loose weight and be healthy. I'm loosing about 1.5 lbs a week eating late dinners multiple snacks and OMG sooo much fruit but I log everything and I don't just watch my calories but I also keep a close eye on all my nutrients.

Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
