The Wii Fit balance board is an a**hole
I bought a Wii Fit Plus earlier this week. I've been eating right and doing cardio diligently for a week or so, and have added strength, yoga, and balance exercises on the Wii Fit to that regime. My weight is down 2 pounds this week, so I think I'm doing pretty well!
Except...every day when you turn on the Wii Fit it takes your measurements to check your progress. So that means that every single day I have to listen to the stupid cartoon balance board tell me my BMI puts me in the "obese" category, and hear the little "wah wah" sound it makes. Um.....I KNOW I'm obese, Wii Fit. That's WHY I BOUGHT YOU. I'm not going to instantaneously drop the 15 pounds that I need to get to and "overweight" BMI, or the 45 pounds I need to get to a normal BMI instantaneously! You don't have to remind me every day! Stupid balance board.
Just wanted to get that off my chest :)
You don't have to do the body test everyday. I'd do it once a week or once a month.
I actually only use it once a month or so. I'm doing other activities everyday so I just don't get to the Wii Fit. It chastises you when you don't get on everyday. That makes me annoyed.
Agree^^ Just go right to training and skip the body test unless you wanna take it.
Completely agree! It's awful how that thing makes fun of you... BAh bah bah.. That's obese in its little sneaky voice. I agree if I wasn't obese I wouldnt have spent the hundred dollars on that darn machine.
I know you don't have to Dynacat, but I like doing it to keep track of how I'm doing on a day to day basis, really just making a sort of non-serious gripe :). I like doing the test daily because I want to see if I'm getting better at the balance/age part of it since I think it's partly a function of getting used to it and partly a function of getting healthier! I just wish there was a way to do the daily test without it telling you you're fat. I mean.....it's called a "daily" test, so SOMEONE must have thought about the fact that things aren't going to change much day to day!! I'm sure that after a week or two I'll stop wanting to do the test every day, but I'll still hate that little balance board!
Oh my gosh - I know!! I have totally thought the same thing! :) I hate that sound and the guilt trip you get for not doing it every day. So funny you posted that- I was just thinking that the other morning when I hopped on from a looooooonnnnggggg break.
My husband isn't into the Wii Fit, so he just tried it once. Now every time I sign on, it nags me about him.
My Wii is on mute. I got tired of the insults a long time ago. Like every time I got on it said ouch. Mute is much better.

*contemplates mute button*
I hate the guilt trip.
I have been working out! Just not with you, you infuriating piece of plastic!
I hadn't even thought about doing it with the mute button. It would be nice to listen to some music instead - that is an awesome idea!
I had the same problem so I made up a new character and made her extra tall so my weight isn't an issue with the board.
haha this is funny... I hope you guys outsmart this plastic with an attitude. :)
Hmm, at least your not working for the Portal computer. (Gladis?)

I feel the same way about the Wii Fit Board and will definitely start using the mute button. Thanks for the idea!
Working with Gladis would definitely burn a lot of calories since she wants to kill you - in the name of science, of course! If you survive she'll give you cake though! ^_^;;
Ha! Love this thread.....I went back to the treadmill...no insults from the old treadmill :) and no game overs and no replacing batteries every 10 mins.....best of all the treadmill doesn't estimate me to be age 45 due to balance or whatever
cake??? Well, I earned it, did I not?
Oh god, I was planning on getting a wii fit here really soon. I'm not obese, but I'm REALLY out of shape, how mean are they? I'm really delicate about being called out for not being able to do a push up and stuff, is it a bad idea for me to get one?
Maybe it’s partly what you have in your own mind that colours what you hear. When I step on the board, I don’t hear it say “ouch,” to me it says a surprised “oh!” like “oh, someone’s stepping on me!” not “ouch, you’re heavy!”
I think if you already have a Wii, the Wii Fit + is a good option if you’re really out of shape and you want to start with something light. There are only a very few exercises that are quite challenging, and it is easy to choose a selection of games/exercises that are doable and fun when you’re getting started.
I couldn't agree with you more! I would like to know if it makes that little "oh..." comment when a lighter person steps on it. You know the one that sounds like "oh.. (i am afraid you might break me).
