Those Wonderful Milestones While Losing Weight. What Are Yours?

Quote  |  Reply

While I only (accidentally) found this site today, over the years of my (deliberately) slow weight loss, I have enjoyed some milestones that stood out for me as pleasurable memories or even exciting.

I started dieting about three years ago, at about age 60.

My first milestone was being able to step out of the shower, wrap a regular-sized towel about myself, and not have to hold it closed for modesty's/privacy's sake! Wow, did I smile!

Another milestone was dropping from pants sizes in the 20s, along with those awful XXXs, to size 18.

Several months back, I discovered I could cross my legs at the knees in comfort.

Soon, I was able to buy shoes in the regular shoe stores.

A couple months ago, a wonderful milestone was buying jeans in a size that was a single digit.

Today's milestone: thoughtlessly crossing my legs at the knees while in a business meeting and suddenly becoming aware that the top leg just hung there effortlessly, flat against the other. Was my smile out of place? Oh, who cares!

Wow! It sounds like you've come a long way! It's funny the little things you appreciate that some people just take for granted.

I haven't been at this for nearly as long as you have, nor have I made as much progress as you, so I don't really have any milestones yet. But I'm looking forward to the day I can fit into my favorite pair of black jeans from high school again... well, maybe ;)

Yippee to those milestones....I remember the towel one, that was a good one.  Another for me would be seeing the collarbones again.

Little victories and are wonderful to be reminded of.

I love this thread.  Mine was folding laundry, picking up a very small pair of pants and realizing that they were mine and I could fit into them comfortably.  LOVED IT!

I have not been at this very long, almost 6 weeks now and I've lost about 7 lbs.  But, today I'm having a little milestone moment!  My work pants are almost falling off me!  What a wonderful feeling :D

Great milestones, feels great when you meet them and it's a lovely motivational tool.

My first was to get out of plus sized tops (done). I have larger breast it was killing my back so not always a wonderful thing.

My second was to get my waist below 33 inches.(done)

Next up is to get into size 10 jeans that aren't vanity sized (I own an older pair). Also along with that is to get my waist below 30 inches.

:) can't wait

Good Luck to everyone at making your milestones.

Tzav...I am there with you!  I started size 18/20 also and just yesterday I fit into my first pair of single digit sized jeans :) I've lost 81 pounds as of today and tomorrow I think I will dip into the 140's!!  So exciting!  The towel thing is a good one...and it was so exciting when I realized I could cross my legs (having NEVER been able to do that in my life...).  Congrats on how far you've come :)

@Devilish_patsy...I didn't even know I HAD collarbones, lol...definitely a good milestone :)

Wow, tzav - good work!  My favorite milestone is fitting into new (and smaller) pants!  Such a great feeling and so much more rewarding than a number on the scale.

Also pianowoman - congrats to you too!!

Congrats to everyone! I am so with you guys on the towel thing. I also recently saw a pair of my jeans in the wash and was surprised for a moment that they were mine.

My recent milestone is feeling confident in my new swimsuit! Go us :)
