Quote  |  Reply

Hey guys I just got my belly peirced 3 days ago!
I LOVE IT!
It is pretty sore though.

I was wondering if you had any exercises I could do that will build and maintian ab muscle other than crunches because I obviously can't do them.
Thanks

the plank

yea planks are more effective than crunches anyway. But you can work you abs too by doing squats and lunges also. I got my belly button pierce about 9 months ago and it took a little while for it to not be sore. try doing salt water soaks to help it heal. Its just warm water w. some salt mixed and then I used a cotton ball to soak on top of the piercing.

Agree with the above posters.  You don't want to irritate it too much.  When I got mine I made the mistake of just wearing pants that came to my waist a few times and it took much longer to heal than expected.

Be careful at the beach too now that its summer! I got mine right before I went on a cruise and the salt water, as above poster mentioned, helped heal it fast but be really careful about getting sand anywhere near it because it will really irritate / slow the healing process.

got mine in April 2010, its mostly healed now, but at first me and my personal trainer had to work around it :p

one idea is sitting in sit-up position, but instead of irritating your new piercing stretching it, go side to side, with a punching motion for 30 seconds. a couple reps and your abs will feel it, and its going side to side so its not stretching your bellybutton.
