So, I'm a 15 year old girl, 5 ft 8 and I weigh about 13 stone, looking to get down to 11. I do 5-6 hours of freestyle disco dance a week, so am very active. I am unsure of how many calories I should be eating a day to try and lose 1-2lbs a week. Anyone help??? Xx
Hi! Good for you on going after your goal:) The whole game of weight loss is burning more than you eat. In order to lose 1 pound a week you need to have a deficit (negative) 500 calories. Based on your statistics, your maintenance calories are 2500. So you can eat 2500 calories a day with your activity level and not gain any weight. Since you are trying to lose weight, you need to cut out 500 calories a day. That means eating around 2000 and maintaing your current activity level. How many calories are you currently eating? I found out the hard way that if you dont eat enough your body will start to store fat.
Hey! I'm a 15 year old girl. Do 2 hours every 2 days for tenniss. And 2 1/2 hours of basketball the other days. I'm 5'10 and i weigh 211 ( gained :/ ) and wanna be down to 175. I'm nt sure how many calories i shud be eating. Help any1??? And i'm new to this app, i don't understand what the # is in the middle of the scale. Help on that too please? Thanks!

Hi here is a formula for working out the Calories you need to maintain your weight. Once you establish what you need to maintain your current weight, if you drop 500 Calories a day you will lose a 1lb a week a thousand calories a day you will lose 2lb a week.
211lbs = 95.9kg
so you go 11.4xweight in kilos=1093.26 plus 870=1963.26 plus 25%=2454.75
So 2454.75 is the Calories you need to maintain your current weight. If you cut down to 1954 you will lose 1lb a week, if your cut down to 1454 you will lose 2lb a week.

Yes you would still lose a lb a week if you drop 500 Calories a day and 2lb if you drop 1000 calories a day. But if you could fit in some exercise you could lose the weight quicker.
