if i return to eating my maintenance as it was before, will i gain weight?

for the last week i've been eating only around 900-1000 calories because i've been out and busy; i basically had to choose between eating less than i should and eating greasy, fried junk. i don't know if i've lost any weight because i don't have a scale, but do you think that my metabolism has been majorly damaged over the past week? can i fix it somehow without gaining weight?

thanks.

I don't think any MAJOR damage is going to be done in such short period of time.  As far as getting you calorie intake back up, why not do it slowly?   Add 50 - 100 calories a day and try and maintain the rest of your habits.

Do you work out?  You mentioned you were busy and yet I didn't notice anything about whether or not you doing exercise.

I'd say take it slowly.  If you don't have a scale at home-I don't either-judge by the fit of your clothes.  If you get to a gym, use their scale no more than once a week.  Of course, these are suggestions, from my point of view.  I'm not a pro, just another struggling individual trying to stay healthy and look better!

well, in addition to walking around with friends at malls/amusement parks i've been doing my regular fast-walking routine of 3 miles per day but that's it.

good point with the clothes; though i have measuring tape, i guess that would help. any idea how snugly i should wrap it around myself to get accurate measurements? loosely wrapped around i get a 27 inch waist and a 26 with it a little tighter.

well as for the waist, maybe just go in between the two?

Why not try weight training, if you  haven't already?  It's a great way to re-shape your body, strengthen your bones, and get your metabolism working better all around the clock.  Muscle burns more calories than does fat.  So after working out with weights for a few months, your body will be using itself in a more efficient fashion.

You were too busy to eat enough but not too busy to count calories?

personally, i've graduated second grade and can do 400+100+200+300 in my head.

oneis2many, i would have to first manage to access some weights (not allowed to go to the gym); do you know of somewhere i can access some cheap ones that i can use for some light weight training? or alternatives to standard 10 or so lb weights (or anything else i may need)?

I suggest going to Target and picking up some hand weights. If you don't already have a strength training workout plan, then buy a workout video for around $10-$20.

You can even start with something like a can of tomato juice or something along those lines.  Maybe even a bottle of clothes detergent with a handle, or a bleach bottle with a handle could be a good place to start.  Then go to websites and check out exercises.  Just do them while holding your weights.
