looking up to fashion models and celebrities as diet role models?

Quote  |  Reply
i was just curious. how many people look at a certain model as reference on how they should look, how much they should weigh or what their measurements should be?

and how many people look up to celebrities for the same?

umm the only one i can think of is beyonce before she lost the weight before dream girls. i also like jillian michaels ^_^
well, i don't really like aim to look like say gemma ward or ali michael (favorite models) but i really love the way they look. i've spent hours looking up models' measurements though during my ed period and compared; a little screwed up i think.

my hands down favorite model of all times is adrinana lima she's freaking sexy!

if i could look like that in bra and panties I'd be on happy chica :D

I admire Maria Sharapova's body. Her BMI was low once and probably still is but she's fighting fit, strong enough to play tennis and not on the brink of death so I don't give a damn about the BMI system. She's hot :)
i always thought i wanted to look like gemma ward and elyse sewell.
but they have naturally thin body types. not fair. haha.
not my goal at all anymore but i still think they are really pretty.

yeahh

some pictures of gemma she looks more healthy, but lately she looks pretty gross :( i think she is so beautiful though.

because she gained weight or lost weight?

i know  there was a huge controversy about gemma ward getting fat. which wasn't actually fat. she just wasn't 'model thin'.  but i think she lost weight again.

either way i don't really think she is as pretty as when she first started modeling for some reason.

i meant when she lost weight. when she looked like an actual walking skeleton. i didn't know she gained? does she look better or worse?

First thing that came to mind when I looked up pics of Gemma Ward to see who she is...lol

I have to say I wouldn't mind looking how Jessica Biel did in the catsuit in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry...but other than that I don't really aspire to look like any celebrities/models, they're all too skinny, prefer someone who is fit.

she gained but she looks okay. i don't know which way i prefer. probably in between would be good. and healthy.

I don't really think its good that we compare ourselves to models/celebrities... but I know that it is human nature obviously to gawk at the Victoria Secret ads and wish damn my stomach was THAT flat and my hmm hmms looked THAT good, but I mean we're normal people! They live their lives to look like that, it's their jobs!!! Just remember that! Don't look at them too much, obsession with weight is easy to come by:-)

I know it's unhealthy, but I adore Twiggy.  All I'd have to lose is about 1/3 of my body weight and I could totally fit into her minidresses.  Just kidding, I'm only aiming to lose 30 lbs, I think I'd look like a starvation victim at 95 lbs.  She and I actually have similar skeletal struture and facial shapes and I'm not too far off her measurements for bust and waist, despite the fact that I weight about 50 lbs more than her at her peak popularity.  Damn pear shaped genetics.

I just want to wear a little plastic mac with paisley tights and galoshes.

since I want to start modeling when I go to college in San Fran later this year I'm pretty much working towards becoming model size and look up to different supermodels. Its not just for modeling its more for myself, personally I've just always loved really long and slender girls.

I'd say Raquel Zimmerman has the body that I would aspire to. Raquel has pretty much the same body type as I do- broad shouldered, with hips but shoulders are her broadest feature. She is a bit more muscularly toned than I am, so I would actually have to bulk up my biceps and start doing abs exercises again ;) She actually has the same measurements as me and is an inch shorter. I just need to work on the muscle ;)

Caroline Trentini is actually my height and has a great bod- one that could attract guys too, despite her minimal chest, she is well toned and well built. I mainly want to learn her sex appeal despite her lack of upper attractions ;)

As for Gemma Ward... I'm pretty sure from her proportions that she has minor scoliosis. Most beautiful tall thin girls with small heads and long limbs that I've met have it. They also tend to have round baby faces rather than the drawn thin face that thin girls who aren't supposed to be thin have. I definitely noticed Gemma's little gain on style.com's runway shots. She was still stunning in her editorials of that time, but runway...shes taller than a lot of the other models as well so that made her look that much bigger. I'm looking forward to seeing her in movies though. She's really one that you need to see her face to appreciate her to the maximum.

I don't aspire to look like a supermodel. I think most supermodels are ugly - they look sickly and unnatural. Not all, as you will see with my second example, but some.

I think that ... if you are going to aspire to a celebrity, aspire to one which has a similar figure type to you. For instance, I look up to Emma Bunton because she's thin but healthy, has an hourglass figure like myself and is toned and confident within herself. I am aware that photographs of her are photoshopped, but she is still what I would like to be in my dreams!

It would be useless me aspiring to be like, lets say Lily Cole. I have E cups, she has A cups, I'm small, she's tall, she has barely any figure, I have hips with a small waist. It would be pointless because it would be extremely unachievable. Emma Bunton and Lily Cole are both beautiful women, they're just very different.
I will always like certain models or celebrities style and sometimes being a certain shape really affects their look... most photos are altered these days but i still love Kate Moss, VV from The Kills, and Karen O fom Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Their not all 'conventional' beauties but if you know how to dress for your figure within a style you aspire to you its easier to be happy with yourself if thats what you hung up on :)

and the whole thing on models looking 'unnatural' i think their strikihng looks makes them stand out and different... they are not normal people its what their industry wants and we respond to in advertising

i've never heard of Caroline Trentini. But she's pretty. I always wanted freckles like that as a little girl.

She's cute- I guess freckles are what you get when you are a blonde Brazilian ;) Either that or a bad sunburn.

She's done I'd say 70% of the fashion editorials in American Vogue over the past 2 years. At least one per magazine, sometimes 2. She has a pretty great career... Paris, New York- clientelle already established so running around for jobs is to a minimum. I wish I could get a career similar to hers. *dreams*

haha. yea, it would be fun. too bad i'm 5'4"!
I love kate hudson's body, i would love to look the way she doesn in a swimsuit!

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
