hey victoria, youre going to find a lot of people commenting this telling you that you cant lose it all that fast. its unhealthy to try to lose more than 2 pounds per week. so if you have 3 months, or 12 weeks then you can lose around 24 pounds in a healthy way, but it will still be hard. start to exercise and cut back your calories, like 700 a day

Stick with around 1200 calories a day. Do not go under that, as that's the bare minimum that your body needs to function. If you eat less than that it is likely that your body will go into starvation mode and you will actually gain weight.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Absolutely do NOT do this.
Yes, you'll lose weight but you'll regain it all back because you'll be starving yourself & damaging your metabolism.

You're only 14, your BARE MINIMUM should be around 1800 calories a day.
You need to not worry about doing it fast & just worry about doing it right. Everything worth doing takes time.

Please do not consume less than 1800 calories a day.  The short term effects are not worth it.

Plan out your meals and snacks.  Sit down with mom and plan a grocery list and meal plan that you both can agree upon.

If being in the house means that you will be nibbling all day, plan activities to be outside.  Get some friends together and go for walks, ride your bikes, swimming at the local pool, play sports, learn to jog/run.

Have fun on your summer vacation.

I seriously think I just peed myself laughing at the name of the post

You can't safely lose 30 pounds in less then two months, and if you do, I assure you, it won't be gone for long. Another thing, it's virtually impossible to burn off ALL YOUR FAT. I wish it was possible but no. At 5'3 and 107, i have 11.5% body fat. so not all of it will be gone. Try cardio with weight training, to firm up as you lose.

And for future refrence, NEVER post with a title like that again, because it just comes off as pure ignorance/stupidity to the people who've been working hard the healthy way.

WAIT

did aaalove said?

aaalove: you should never go under 1200, and as a teenager 1800. I don't think your in ANY position to be giving "advice" like that.

I just went back & read aaalove's post to see what you were talking about, & I think you probably are talking about the "700 calorie" thing. I think you misunderstood that. I think aaalove meant to cut 700 from her usual total, not to only eat 700 calories [like I think you read it as]... at least, I hope so haha. Which still isn't great because we don't know what her current intake is. but eh.

Yeah, that wording definitely causes some confusion.

you will feel so sorry if you do it!so damn sorry!try to make a lifestyle not a quick crash something....I know your young and there is pressure to look skinny bla bla...but if you solve even the thought of these metodhs NOW you might end up to be  a healthy woman in about 5 years.so in my opinion forget it!....I am talking from experiance.

Probably some good advice is to just get out there and have fun! you're 14 and it's summer. Go play with your friends, ride bikes, run, jump, enjoy it! Don't be in the house watching TV all day, try to stay away from "bad" snacks and fast food, and I don't think you'll have any problem shedding fat. Remember, don't treat the scale like some be-all end all of what your weight is. You could weight more a look skinnier just because of muscle. So use judgment!

your 14 years old, don't count calories. its summer enjoy what you eat, just eat smaller portions of the not so healthy options. add more fruits and veggies for example when you have a grilled back yard burger or hot dog. that way, you'll have your portion of protein, fruits and vegetables and grain when you think of the bun. don't skip meals. eat breakfast so by mid day you won't be tempted to indulge into only candy. remember that adolescents only comes around once and weight shouldn't preoccupy your time. since its summer, you can think about taking up a sport like softball or swimming. Recruit a couple of your girl friends and do fun summer related activities. This way you'll have fun during the summer, the extra exercise will do your heart well and you'll shed the extra pounds naturally. Remember!!!!!!!!!!!WHEN  YOU SKIPP MEALS YOU'RE ONLY GOING TO GAIN DOUBLE.!!!!!!!!!

That was unnecessarily cruel and the last comment was absolutely unnecessary, and not at all constructive.  We're (almost) all here with the same goal of weight loss, and nobody is going to know all of the facts about successful, healthy weight loss when they are just beginning.  I realize that posts like this may seem like a mockery of your own personal goals, but put yourself in her shoes... a young individual seeking to lose weight, still not educated about proper health but very likely willing to learn.  I'm just asking you to be a little nicer, because people come here for support; people don't come here to be berated and belittled.

If you got into exercising almost everyday - maybe just being active and outside and doing things all day plus some structured exercise like long walks, swimming or sports, you may be able to lose about 1.65 pounds per week eating 1500 calories per day (which I think is the minimum calories for girls under 18. for boys it is 1800). That is also based on recommendations that a person not lose more than 1% of their mass per week.

Use the burn meter tool to figure out abot how many calories you are burning from the activities you do. You can also figure out the calories in the food you eat with the tools on this site as well.

I agree with other posters that you should take it slow with a long range goal. You may not be able to lose it all by the start of school, but you could make great strides in that direction.

Best of luck!

Mike

swim! i lost so much when i swam....its summer get out and exersize you will feel better and lose weight. Also just watch what and how much you eat dont do anything crazy....

Try eating 1500 calories per day and making a 500 calorie deficit. That would put you at a pound per week. If you want to lose 2 pounds per week create a 1000 calories deficit, but no more. Drink lots of water and get enough fiber, too. Also exercising will help you a lot. The first few weeks you might lose more than 2 pounds, but that won't last, so don't expect it too.

The people here are right, you can't lose that much weight healthily in that amount of time... you can lose some of it though!

Try a goal of 10-15 pounds, it will make a huge difference, especially because your short. (Don't be offended, I'm short, too! 5'1" (: )

I'm going to be starting my first year of high school, too. I don't think it's all about weight though.. I'm very close to my goal weight but if I go into high school sloppy and anti social that's not a very good impression. Put yourself together well and foces on things you like about yourself. Try getting your nails done, get a new hair cut, a couple cute outfits etc. Join clubs and get to know people, do well in school. Isn't high school supposed to be fun? Don't worry so much, I'll bet your beautiful!
