I have been bouncing around from diet to diet but my weight stays the same and I seem to lack the willpower to stick to something for just one day!! I am a grazer. Every time I am near the kitchen I am drawn into it to find something, even when I am not hungry. I am 19 years old and dont want this to be my life habit!!! I also dont know when I am full. I dont know how to listen to my body cues. Any tips? i am new and struggling. I have had an account but havent utilised it. Help! I go to budapest in less than a month and I want to be at least 5-10 lbs slimmer before I go. This is out of control!! Tips?
Try getting out of the house. Get a job, go out with friends, get a hobby, join a sport/team, go shopping, take a walk, wash your car, etc. Just go out and DO something. You can't eat when you're busy!
Secondly, if you can't get out, take a marker and write "NO" on the back of your hand. This way, whenever you reach out for something, you'll see the big "NO" and it will remind you to stop and think if you're really hungry and need to eat, or if you're just eating out of boredom/habit/pleasure. If its one of the later, you can tell yourself "NO" and walk away. This sounds silly, but it really helped me a lot when I first started losing weight. You just have to make up some explanation to tell people when they ask why you have "NO" written on the back of the hand so you don't sound like a crazy person, lol.
I know how you feel! I have the same problem, almost exactly. I crave things and 90% of the time I'm not even hungry. For me it's mostly sweets that I crave but I have found that instead of eating snacks all of the time, try boiling some water and drinking chicken broth. I know it sounds weird, but when I crave it becomes all I can think about. I get bouillon cubes and break them in half and just drink it like tea. I feel fuller (odd, because I wasn't even hungry in the first place) but it satisfies my craving to just have SOMETHING.
They say that unless your stomach is growling, you're not really hungry you're just craving. I also have a hard time with this because it's almost like I never feel satisfied when I eat. Sometimes I drink water and that helps but when I need a flavor that's when I use the broth. It's good for in between meals too because then you don't completely pig out once you do eat! Well, at least with my experience! :) Hope this helps, good luck!
Dear on my way,
I have had a life long weight problem and I have tried everything. It has taken me a long time to realize that it wasn't how much I was eating it was what I was eating. I became a Vegan and started to eat a plant strong diet. This doesn't happen over night. I started out cutting out meat and dairy, then all oils. A month after that I went all organic and cut out all sugars. It was amazeing , the weight started coming off and I wasn't hungry! I had energy to do the anything.
