Today I am kind of depressed because every time I open any magazine theres always someone with there bones sticking out, its really depressing, and i KNOW its affected me because now I am always trying to make my body better, when in reality my body is perfectly fine, like i look at every ounce of fat and critisize it because all the models have no fat, and its just so uppsetting!
seriously the media has made stick thin women attractive, and nobody can acheive it without killing themselves! I am lucky i did not develop a eating disorder and that i am smart and want to be healthy. But it is really annoying it has ruined my veiw of what women are supposed to look like ruined it..thankfully i look up to alot of women with muscle and jillian micheals is gorgeous and she has muscle.
think of marilyn manroe without curves, isn't it wrong?~erica
It's only upsetting if you read the magazines in the first place, treat the images seriously and believe only stick-thin women are worthy members of society. The people in the pictures are about as 'real' as a Barbie doll ... lit to flatter, air-brushed, legs lengthened, wrinkles smoothed, cellulite eliminated, saddle-bags reduced. Meet the model in the flesh and you'd never recognise them.... trust me, I've done it. A male model I met once brought gorgeous portfolio shots to the audition but, in person, he was short-ish, not so nice-looking and had a very big bald-patch!!!
Set your own style. Be your own person. Choose your heroes for qualities you admire and are reasonable for you to aspire to... intelligence, wit, charm, courage, kindness.... rather than airhead, anonymous models whose only assets are protruding skeletons. Aim to get other people to want to be like you... rather than the other way around.
jillian micheals is just as guilty of being a false poster child, look at her giant fake tits for freakin' sake. if she was truly proud of her muscular form she wouldn't tack on silicon balls to it. i dont blame her though, she needs something to distract from her face.

her boobs are not even big, and they are real. if you looked at her pics you would know that, and if you see her workout videos, theres no way those are fake, they are not big enough!~erica

Umm you don't have to be stupid to develop an ED. It's a disease not an IQ rating
It is a matter of accepting reality. You will never have a body like a super model. Some people think these women have more attractive bodies than normal people do. Deal with it.
Once you accept this, then you can learn to accept that you can achieve the best version of your own body. It is better than not trying. Also, you need to realize that it is possible to be just as happy and to have a life that is just as good as a women who is thinner than you.
It is hard to look at magazine images and to accept that you will never look like that. I personally prefer a thinner body. I think it looks better. However, it is only looks, and I have learnt that not looking like a model does not have to hold me back in life. So, I am a person who likes the way a model looks more than the way normal people look, yet I am now able to look at models in magazines, and actually enjoy their beauty. It does not make me feel bad any more, because I refuse to believe that you have to look like a model to have a life that is as good as theirs.
The media has put a thin image out there, but it is not the medias fault that people prefer the way these models look. If enough people did not like the way models looked in the first place, the media would not be able to force people to like an image that they were not already predisposed to liking.

Biologically speaking, it would make more sense to be attracted to a more curvy woman since this is a sign of fertility.
That could be true, but another theory that I have recently read about, is that males are also attracted to the fragile nature of very thin women, because it makes them feel more powerful. I have heard a lot of women say that when they become shockingly thin, they were upset to discover that there were quiet a lot of men who actually like very thin women.
Thinness is not the only the criteria for 'perfection' that the media projects all models and actresses that are well known and rich enough to be famous have perfect teeth and great skin (or it is made up if it is not naturally very good).
Personally, I do find the perfect white teeth and nice hair and skin more attractive than bad skin and normal teeth. However, we all know that who a person is on the inside is more important than looks. Unfortunately, who a person is on the inside cannot be shown through media images and on magazine covers, so the images that are visible are the ones that are reinforced.
On a funny note - did any one watch that stupid reality show called true beauty? It was an American show that was shown here in Australia, that Vanessa Millano girl was the host. Basically, some of the people on it were such idiots, that I actually felt sorry for them. Looks will not buy them the tools to have a great life - no person who is worthwhile would be able to be close with such an idiot, if they cannot even have a conversation with them lol.

Super models will never have a body like a super model. Every picture you see of models/celebrities in every single magazine is doctored.
flggin is right check this out!

and there are many many more "exposures" of stars being airbrushed if you just google it. It makes me feel better, even though it shouldn't, but if you remind yourself that every single photo you see in every foofoo magazine is doctored every time you pick one up maybe you'll laugh and realize just how beautiful and REAL you are!
If we all insist that REAL is the new beautiful maybe we'll be the dominant trend!
