Are there any teens who are actually overweight?

Quote  |  Reply
I can't seem to find anyone who is overweight and ACTUALLY needs to lose weight like me. I keep trying to ind a buddy to keep me motivated but I can't. Tactically everyone is 120 and think they're obese. Also, I need help from someone who's good with counting calories, I mark what I eat but it's hard for me to know what's in my food. I want to learn how to count calories religiously ha.

I'm 15, 5' 2", and 182 lbs. For now I want to get down to 130 lbs. Is there anyone else who has similar stats? :)

5' 5" (start) 180.  When I was still in high school I ended up making a lot of bad choices, and got down to 125.  Which was almost scary because my goal weight has always been 140-145.  Anyway, over the years the weight just crept up on me.  It was like one day I looked in a mirror and realized, "holy crap.  I'm fat again."

The best advice I can give is to actually be aware of what you eat.  Realizing what ONE SERVING is, is super important.  I try to pre-portion things I eat often (nuts, and baby carrots, mostly) or a big meal I make.  That way when I want it, it's right there.  Also, on the site I gave myself a 10lb goal instead of my scary 35lb goal.  I just think that I can achieve this goal in a time frame that makes sense to me.  So I feel like I'm actually accomplishing something sooner.

Drink a ton of water and don't eat near bed time.

Oh wow hahah I never thought about that. I'm really slow sometimes..

19, 5'8, 238 lbs :[ lets be friends, i would love the motivation !

I'm overweight according to stats... I'm 18, weigh 181.5 lbs and I'm 5' 5" tall. I can relate to you in sooooo many ways. When I was 13-15, I weighed about 190 lbs (thankfully I can't remember exactly) and I'm used to my bouncy weight. I would lose 5 lbs and 10lbs came rolling back. The most recent time I decided to exercise was last November 13 (2011), I was 198.6 lbs (nearly 200!) I was shocked because I used to be healthy when I was younger, but when I hit puberty everything just went downhill.

My goal, right now, is to reach 150lbs, after that, I'll try to go for my healthy weight, which is supposedly between 135-147lbs (won't be so hard by the time I'm 150lbs).

About counting calories, I just at the packages in EVERYTHING and I try to remember that my maximum calorie intake is 1700. So, if it's early, just look out for sugars, fats and cholesterol, the rest of the day, you should calculate how many calories you have left or log them here, so you'll know for sure.

I also try to simply look at my food for a while before eating, I end up realizing that sometimes the serving's too big. And when you feel full, save it for later, DON'T EAT IT! I remember reading this phrase the other day: "I know there are children starving in Africa, but your obesity won't help them". So it's better to donate food to a shelter or think of something else, great ideas pop all the time.

Thank God I have my mom to support me, she can get a little over the top sometimes, though, and tries to push me way too hard. When that kind of things happen, I just remember what I've been reading and how I feel (which is the most important thing).

Remember to never give up and try to start (or continue) exercising, it doesn't need to be something hard, walking for 30 mins is pretty good and remember to eat 5 small meals a day, instead of just 3; just to keep your metabolism pumping and burning calories.

I'm here if you ever need support, advice or just someone to talk to. We all have goals, and we all definitely need someone to be there for us. Keep working hard, if you want it, you'll get it!

Yes! I'm Alli, 14 years old and 168 lbs. When I started about two weeks ago, I was 178 and almost to 180 (it was the nutellla. God, do I love that spreadable hazelnut devil...) and now I've dropped to 168! Eating healthy and drinking more water has really made me feel really positive, even through our week of 8th grade finals! I'd love to talk more with you, and I totally agree. People that are on here that are really small want to lose weight, and I know that it isn't healthy. Just remember to pace yourself and get atleast 1500 cals a day. Happy weight loss! C":

I am 5'4" and 161 lbs and I have found the same problems, scrolling through the young forum is so depressing to see girls obsessing over being 115 lbs (OMG!). It does irritate me but it's good to see it's not just me and as for the whole calorie thing, portion control is a big factor, I used to eat whole grain cereal all the time but have massive amounts. so thats one thing to consider :) I'm going to support the hell out of you and good luck :D

YES THERE ARE OTHER TEEN GUYS HERE!!!

Victory is mine.

Lol dude I'm in the same boat, not as extreme obese but still overweight. (BMI 25, I'm 5'3" and 14) I met someone in here similar to you, she's really set her mind to things, you might want to talk to her - @thehotairballoon

I could buddy up with you too, my current goal is 130 lbs by September, and I could use some support.

And ftr, don't go overboard on the counting. I only half use this for the counter - I really use it to hold myself liable for bad choices so I won't do it again ;)

Good luck bro

Yes yes! I'm 19 and about 200lbs, definitely need to lose weight! :D I'm finishing up my first year of uni and I'm looking to lose about 20lbs in the summer ( I have FOUR MONTHS off) HEALTHILY, and keep going throughout the year. Is anyone else looking to lose weight this summer? I'm actually really really determined to do it this time. Any ideas for motivation to start? And HEALTHY SNACK ideas? I'm going to be home around my mother's cookign which won't be easy to resist all the time but I'm determined to try and eat healthily and exercise.

Yes, there is people who are overweight. Like for instance one lady is 600 pounds. She was on TV. I'm not sure if she is alive anymore though.

I'm 151 pounds and I feel like I need to loose weight. It's just people's thinking and logic ad makes them think they are fat when they are not. :'(

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
