what do you think of the Victoria's secret models?
What do you think of this??
I whole heartily agree they are unhealthy and damaging to young women's self image. A recent fact I recently learned was that models use to be about 18 % thinner than the average women. Now they are 23% thinner. I say thinner not healthier! This image is not the average woman; however, they are portraying them to be the norm. Younger women and teens are not taught to be media critical- ie. question the media's reason for their advertising.
I am also in the same group as strawberry flowers; every commercial is geared toward sex. Mainly women as objects.
Please do a search on the objectivity of women on you tube. There are awesome documentary s and such for women to view and feel better about their self and become more pissed off at the media.
Sorry to ramble but this really hits a nerve with me.
These clothing companies have such a huge effect on a large part of our population and it's honestly depressing to watch my little sisters mind being corrupted like this.
Yeah! My daughter is eight and I just try to let her know everyone is going to look different. She does tell me that her stomach is to big and that kids have called her fat. So sad; she weighs 78 lbs and is EIGHT. I also tell her how most commercials are selling something. I like to think she will begin to question these things for her self. Til society changes all we can teach our girls is to love their unique selfs by being an example. I now emphasis how mommy wants to be healthy; not skinny. I never say do I look fat in this. Although, I admit I use too. We have all been sold this for so long. SAD.
What depresses me is the young AND older (teens, 20s, 30s, 40s) men who think they're hot, gorgeous etc. Yeah, because they're boobs are pushed up to their chins. If you see them in public they are waifs drowning in 00 clothes at 5'10" tall. They're legs have a highway between them, their arms are twigs, their faces are gaunt. With makeup on and HUGE pushup bras and little thongs, they look pretty--they will always have pretty faces. But I think sports illustrated models are more realistic even though they are still hugely unrealistic (if that makes sense.) They're legs aren't sticks, they're boobs aren't non-existent (i.e. they don't need a wonder bra, they actually have breasts).
God that sote annoys me. Everyone says they have the best bras- most expensive & flashiest & biggest push up, but certainly not best
I don't want to burst everyone's bubble, but the majority, if not every single one, of the guys I know think these models are hot.
There is a reason they get paid millions and the company is so successful.

I feel like its the Paris Hilton effect; everyone says these people are 'hot', but are they? Or are these consumers just repeating what concussive adverti$ing says is 'hot'?
My husband thinks petite 'exotic' women are hot; a friend thinks stout 'farm' girls with big boobs are the epitome of hotness, another friend prefers Amazonian red heads with "tree trunk thighs" (his words), and yet a another prefers average height, average weight brunettes with pixie cut hair, etc. etc. When confronted with VS models, these guy don't really think the VS models are all that, certainly not enough to store in a spank bank. They view them as objectively attractive, much in the way I view beefcake as attractive, but not necessarily hot or objects to lust over.
In my husband's words; "all these models just look like aliens to me".

Have you read anyone's post?
Everyone admits that guys love the victoria's models. Guys think they're hot.
But that's because guys don't realize the maintenance girls (let alone models) go through to look like this/that. Girls with 16-inch thighs don't normally have C-cups pushed up to their boobs....it's all pretty much fake. In real life they're skinny, the same as fashion models, with prettier faces.
Think they're hot, no one really cares.(I don't know why you think we do....)
they are hot! and I think everyone knows that whether or not they want to admit it or not !! Yes, the media portrays women and beauty in a certain way that isn't what everyone is going to or should look like !! but we don't have much control over that, you just have to be smart when viewing anything for that matter, whether its video games/barbies/tv/ads/magazines etc. (i learn about all this stuff at Uni. and trust me, there is a lot of stuff about the media that people complain about!!) !! Anyway the VS models i would kiiilll to have their bods i think most girls would but lets face it... these girls are getting thousands and thousands of dollars to look like that !! its their job!! so don't be hatin' !!! <3
I don't think anyone is hating...
I think people are just pointing out that the average girl/woman doesn't have a chance in hell of obtaining that body type.
VS models are clearly very attractive. However, some of them are very thin. That's just not realistic for the majority of women, especially if they want to remain healthy.
Now, if I was getting paid lots & lots of $$$ to be super thin, maybe I'd put my Subway sandwich down....maybe.
ETA: I will say, they have GORGEOUS faces. Miranda Kerr is stunning...

What does the fakeness/difficulty of achieving their look have anything to do with anything? Sorry you are so bothered by the fact that guys are attracted to girls who look like that, real/not real, hard/easy to achieve, or whatever the circumstances around it may be.
And as one PP above mentioned, just take their bodies out of the equation and consider their faces - they are still beautiful/hot/whatever.
It really does sicken me when I see advertisements with the Victoria's Secret models. Unfortunately, most guys really do think they're beautiful. These women look like unrealistic characatures. They're underweight, they have fake boobs(or they're just really squished together by their bras to look big), they wear TONS of makeup, and they're probably all infertile. Do they even know what these models do to get their figures? They hardly eat, and right before a photoshoot, they'll either live off of nothing but liquids or completely starve themselves by only drinking water. What they do is NOT healthy.
I used to think the VS models looked stunning, and wanted to look like them someday. Through anorexia, I eventually did, but I faced countless serious health issues because of it, such as losing my period and feeling cold all the time. The sad thing is, that everyone was constantly complimenting me, saying how beautiful I'd become. That just shows how messed up our media is, and how it destroys people's views on beauty. I feel really bad for the other girls out there :(

See, you managed to again ignore every word I said....it's truly amazing.
If you had read my statement, I said GUYS THINK VS MODELS ARE HOT/ GORGEOUS/ Beautiful, and every other adjective. In fact, they are gorgeous-there is no denying their beautiful faces.
But their bodies? Ridiculously thin. I don't care if you and every other guy think they're hot (most guys do). But you obviously think girls are saying they're too thin because we're jealous and we want guys to like plus-sized girls. I don't care who you like or any other guy-whether is be size 0 at 5'10 or size 22 at 5'0.
Guys love commenting on stuff like this--with no mind to what these models do to have a highway between their legs and arms/body (Starving, eating only liquids, exercising for hours--all that the above mentioned, probably with osteoporosis & weak bones, etc). It's all fake and pain for them but you don't care what they do to get there because they're pleasing to your eye. But could any guy (including you) ever get one of these VS models? Very, very doubtful. So comment all you want.
Interesting... they all seem pretty happy to me. You must know them on a personal level saying they have such a terrible, horrible, suffering lifestyle.
They are infertile and unhappy you say?
*sigh*
Lily Aldridge - Married and expecting her first kid. Seems pretty happy and fertile to me.
Alessandra Ambrosio - Married and has a kid. Sounds happy and fertile to me.
Tyra Banks - No kids or husband, but she seems pretty happy to me.
Gisele - Married and has a kid. Sounds fertile and happy.
Laetitia Casta - Married and has two kids. Sounds fertile and happy.
Helena Christensen - Has a child, is divorced. Seems fertile to me.
Selita Ebanks - Engaged to Nick Cannon. Runs her own practice. Seems pretty happy.
Izabel Goulart - Engaged, no kids yet, does lots of charity work. Seems happy. No word of her being infertile.
Chanel Iman - Single and doing lots of charity work. Seems happy. No word of her being infertile.
Miranda Kerr - Married to Orlando Bloom. Had a kid. Seems fertile and happy.
Heidi Klum - Has a kid. Sounds fertile.
Doutzen Kroes - Married. Does lots of charity work. Sounds happy. No word of infertility.
Karolina Kourkova - Engaged. Has a kid. Actually has hypothryroidism. Sounds fertile and happy.
The list goes on, and on, and on, and on.
(This applies to VS models, I am not talking about models in general. I know there are plenty of unhealthy models. This only refers to VS models).

In response to your other post- you don't know these supposed uber-happy models either so you can't attest to their unhappiness. However, I (and many of the people on here) have or know people who have/had eating disorders and were the same size as these girls (except shorter) and were sick. They would have looked beautiful too with a pound of makeup,a professional stylist, great lighting, photoshop, and a push up bra. I'm sure there are a few outliers working for VS who are naturally thin with average chest (B-cup, tops; skinny girls do not have huge chests). Like the above poster said, some might be healthy and happy. The majority of them are probably unhealthy.
Obviously you have way too much time on your hands. I refuse to argue any longer with you as it is fruitless....you refuse to budge no matter how much proof everyone gives you. You (and most men) are stuck in the media--they all say fashion models are too thin. they don't talk about VS models. So you think "well VS models are 100X prettier than fashion models and not quite as thin (although obviously the huge push up bras are fooling you) so they must be healthy."
Fertility does not=health. Obviously.
Done. Goodbye.
