I fought the doughnut and the willpower won!
A trainer came into work today and brought some Tim Hortons doughnuts with him. Now for some people this might not be such a big thing, but I live hours away from the nearest Doughnut shop, and they're a big big treat. He plopped the box down next to my spot at work and told me to have some. I work in a mechanical space control room, and so I was stuck all day in a 10X6 room with a half dozen doughnuts.
I'm glad to say that I stared at that box for a long time, thinking how good they would taste, how it had been so long since I had had one. I thought and thought, and then I thought about how many calories were in that little doughnut that had only 4-5 bites. About how I could have a handful of almonds and an apple and still come out ahead, or even treat myself to something like a fudgesicle and be better off. I survived, and on the way out of work I looked in the box and saw that I didn't even like any of the kinds that he had brought, but I know that even so, I would have still ate one if I hadn't used my willpower to resist the temptation.
I'd just like to say that anybody out there that's staring at that bag of chips, that doughnut, or chocolate bar, don't give in. You can resist it, and the feeling afterwards is so rewarding, it's 100X better than the taste of it on your lips, and the guilt that follows afterwards.
Hey, awesome job! You deserve a huge pat on the back!!! It's not only eating the doughnut that you overcame, but the test of your willpower. The reward from avoiding that doughnut was so much better than the actual doughnut would've been, wasn't it?
I had a similar accomplishment this week, so I really know how you feel. I had some buffalo chicken fingers in the fridge that were leftover from the day before I started my diet. I was craving them so bad. I looked up the calories on this site, and thought that I shouldn't eat them. Later that day I thought, "what the hell", and went to the fridge and grabbed them. I just stood there for a few seconds looking at the box. I took them out of the box and threw them in the trash can. There! No more cravings! lol It felt awesome! Go us!!! :)
Yeah for you!!!!! I love donuts too, so i can really relate to what an accomplishment that was. You rock!
Good for you.
I work at Timmy's and the doughnuts do nothing for me, now peanut butter cookies right out of the oven is a different story.
That's so awesome!
I have to talk myself down from the ledge sometimes at work. It helps to just think about that doughnut, the calories and refined sugar, and the amount of activity I'd have to endure to add it to my day. A dried up, crusty doughnut worth an hour and a half kicking my ass on the treadmill? No way.
Congrats!
My younger brother used to own a Dunkin Donut franchise. He said the quickest way to convince yourself that you don't want to eat donut is to take one, put it in a paper towel and squeeze hard. Once you see all the oil oozing out of the paper towel and the ball of ugly sugar and flour inside the towel, you will no longer see donuts as yummy again.

LOL LOL
I know that feeling, it's real bad when you make sure your kids finish their food, because you know you would!!!!
Huh. Now I have a craving for a donut.
I wish i had your willpower. I have been horrible this week with controlling my binges.
Whenever I get caught up in a similar situation, I usually
A. throw it away in the nearest trashcan, and make sure it sits on the bottom
B. put some coffee, juice or whatever available on top of it and then throw it away
C. or if it belongs to someone else, I just hide it somewhere so I don't see it
These usually work like a charm for me.
You are definitely strong, more power to you!
I love not liking a fattening food, makes it much easier to resist =D
