Four Week Club, Part II - Starts Monday May 12th and ends Monday, June 9th! -- CLOSED to new members

Quote  |  Reply

Hey, I think it was pretty successful and, to be honest, I liked almost everybody that was involved.

(Kidding!)

Same dilly - For those of us in the current four week count down, post your final weight there, and then copy and paste it here... as it will be the starting weight here!

Morning Weigh ins on May 12th, and then every Thursday and Monday from then on!

(I'm actually pretty glad to do this - I'm going to Hawaii on June 12th, so I'd love a reason to keep driving to my goal weight before I get on that plane.)

Awright! Who's in!

Zephyrdame, WOW! That's GREAT! I'm glad you shared that with us. Thanks! And congrats to you..

Are you going to lose more, or was that your goal weight? 135.2

Do you have any tips for us ladies?

If you do... Please share.

Thanks, lynnhaslost!

I'm still not satisfied with my current weight, 135 (my highest weight was 168 back in 2006) so yes, I intend to lose some more weight. Since I'm only 5'1" and am medium framed so my ideal weight would be 115-120. I really, really want to go down to 120 (under would be good too!) by my wedding day, which will be in Sept '08. I've got 3 months to go so I have to continue and be committed to it! See my icon with the dress in it? I already bought the wedding gown similar to that one and I want to look GREAT in it!

Okay, my TIPS to not just ladies but to the gentlemen on my experience with 7lbs loss since I started April 12th on here.

1) STAY within your calorie range with PORTION control. I cut out 400-500 calories per day. To maintain my weight, I should eat approx 1,700-1900 cal but I've been eating between 1,200-1400 cal.

2) EXERCISE! I've been working out regularly and doing weights 2-3 times a week. Don't forget to do interval/intense cardio (2x-3x per week) and switch to new exercise regimen every 4-6 weeks.

3) It's OKAY to eat bad/fatty/enemy foods AS LONG AS you eat a small amount of it and continue to stay within your calorie range.

My coworker celebrated her 30th birthday last Monday and I only had half piece of red velvet cake. And then I weighed myself next day, I already LOST a pound! I could not be more thrilled!

4) KNOW your choices of foods that's right for your body. I stay away from "bad" carbs/processed foods and only eat whole grains, lean proteins/dairy, lots LOTS of fruits/vegetables and good fats (nuts, avocado, etc). I only eat "heavy" carbs (bread, etc) during the day then avoid high glycemic carbs in the evenings at all costs because it'll just mess up your weight on the scale in the morning.

Well, I think that's it and that worked for me -- if you guys got other suggestions/tips. Pls do share too. :D

Hey hey;

Tomorrow:  Four wisdom teeth getting removed.  I'll probably be having scrambled eggs seasoned with calorie-free Vicodin.

If I don't weigh in in the AM, I shall when I'm conscious...

:)

Zephyrdame~ Thanks for the tips. Your wedding dress looks nice.. I'm on the right track then. I've lost over 62 pounds, and I feel really great about it. I was 226lbs when I started my diet in 2007, and I've been every number over the years. Up and down like  Yo-Yo. I've been holding ground and doing great with my life style change. I feel pretty good. I am glad you shared your tips with us, and it's things I've been doing all along. I feel even better to see someone has the same things going too.. The only thing with me is. My cals intake it less than yours, and I am going to up them. I'm at 1600cals right now, and it's like a fight to get them around that mark. So far this week I've reached them pretty good, and last week I've hit them pretty good too. It's like picking a fight with my tummy and losing every time with not enough cals. Thanks again.. I know you are going to look wonderful on your wedding day...

Okies I'm up a pound from Monday (139.25)

I'm having to change my goal from a losing one to a maintaining one. I've been invited to my bfs works ball in June, and I bought my dress thinking it would be a little small. But it fits perfectly! I don't think it'll matter if I lose a little, and I've room for a fluctuation or two, but I would like it to stay up Laughing so maintain I will!

I'm just going to concentrate on healthy eating and lots of tasty water!

Marmel: matter is not conserved in a closed system, energy is! Basic thermodynamics lol I wish books would get this right hehe. I suppose technically if you take Einsteins quantum view that energy is matter then it is true, but classically (which is probably the books view) it ain't. That article was really interesting tho! Laughing

Zephyrdame: you're going to look stunning in your dress!

Everyone else: keep up the good work and keep those tips coming! It's really motivating me :)

And has anyone else tried fibresure? I did once and could actually taste it in my water! It wasn't bad, but it didn't fill me up at all! I was still hungry! I'm thinking I need to eat lots more fruit instead... come here apple...

Happy Thursday!  It's almost Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I weighed in on Monday at 201.4 and I weighed in this morning at 199.2.  Finally below the 200 mark.  It's been 8 years since I've seen a 1 at the beginning of my weight.  I've reached an interim goal for me.  Now on to the 180's!  My next goal.

I, too, am a yo-yo.  When I started this journey originally back in January 2007, I was 241.  I got down to 204 in May of 2007, but then hurt my shoulder which put me in a tailspin until after I had surgery in January 2008. I gained back up to 225 for my surgery day.  So, I started over again.

Let's keep it going!  I hope that everyone does well this morning with their weigh-ins. Good Luck!  Have a nice holiday weekend!

Yeah I think it's also best to weigh yourself after you've worked out.. today I went to the gym and I was 146 before working out and an hour and thirty minutes later I was 145. Whooo! Of course I'm going to take the 145 over the 146 :-P

Weighing yourself after exercise is not a good thing.  If you sweat alot, then you should weigh less, but it's only water weight that you've lost.  If you've done a good weight workout, then your muscles may retain water, which will cause you to gain weight.  You really are not going to lose weight during a single workout that is significant, so it's best to do it right before your workout, not after.

The best time to weigh yourself is in the morning.  Same time, every time with the same amount, or lack thereof, clothing.

First off marmel13I hope all goes well with your wisdom teeth. How much do they weigh?LOL

Zepherdameyou are going to be fantastically beautiful.

SweetigemI drink fibersure every morning in my coffee and usually again in the afternoon in some iced tea.  I don't know if it fills me up but it does help keep my system regulated. IYKWIM  Even with all the veggies in my life I still need that extra push.

Looking forward to seeing some more low numbers from everyone or at least hearing from everyone checking in.

As for me water weight is gone (yeah) and then some.  Maybe my miracle noodles are working?lol I'll probably get a bounce back but I'll take what I can get. I'm still averaging about a pound and a half a week.

SW 149.6

Th 150.2

M  150.2

Th 146.8

I has been dropping the last few days I haven't weighed this low in about 5 years!

Today was exciting!!

Starting weight: 195

Thursday 5/22 weight: 189.75

Wooohooo!!!

Below the 190 mark!!!

marmel13 - FOUR wisdom teeth being removed?! Hope it wasn't painful.

lynnhaslost - Thanks & WOW, 62 lbs! That's really an achievement. Then you know what you're doing. ;) Good luck! Sweetigem & leanne21071- THANK YOU! I am very excited about getting married. I just need to tone up the flabby part (especially around chest/bust area and triceps). That is the part I really am trying to focus on. Any tips will be appreciated if you know how tone these up!

bpcrue - Congrats on going under 200! I agree with you that weighing after working out/weightlifting isn't a good thing too.

The weight can fluctuate wildly due to changes in water content. Also, don't weigh at night - then you would be weighing any food/liquid and don't forget sodium too which can cause bloating. Your body will naturally retain some more water due to extra sodium intake. Especially during period - we, women, gain some. So, I always DELAY weighing myself after until the period.

Anyway, I guess I'll post my stats on here so you can all know what I've been doing...

Start Weight: 142 (April 12th)
Previous weight: 168 in 2006
Thurs, 5/22 weight: 135

Only 15 lbs to go before my wedding day for 3 months... I WILL DO IT.

Thursday the 22nd weigh in: 183.   Don't ask how its possible, I simply do not know.  My deficit is 1000 every day, no matter how much I work out.  This feels fast.

Marmel: Good luck with the wisdom teeth, I hope they put you under and the drugs are better than mine.  Apparently percocet wasn't enough to numb the pain... one of my wisdom teeth was in there sideways and took some digging.

Hey all!

Woke up early enough to weigh in.

SW:  195!

CW:  192!

GW:  189  (But I may reset this to 188 so I can have a pound of pizza when I lose what I want to lose.)

Won't be eating much today...  I wonder if they'll give me Oxy?

See you guys here!

At about 1000 cals a pound for cheese pizza that actually doesn't sound too bad!

Zephyrdame~ Yeah! I lost that much... I even lost more. Thanks Marmel for the this group.

Now to my stats report.

It's days like today that make me want to quit.

Start weight: 138

Monday: 139

Today: 140

How is it that I can work out every day for 50 minutes, and eat under 1500 cals a day and still GAIN WEIGHT.  Honestly, it is exhausting.

I'm gunna go read a book for distraction. good work to everyone else, if you have any secrets you've got to let me know!

If you are truly being honest about the calories that you are eating, then you may not be eating enough.  If you are working out every day, then you may have to take in more calories, or your body will go into a stall thinking that you are not going to feed it.

I think it could be muscle gain.. Sometimes we gain muscle.. How long have you been working out? I really do think that. Bpcrue is right. I've been in a kind of zig zag this week. Last week I couldn't get my cals up enough, and now I am hitting... 1300-1700, and that has been working well for me. I've been working out hard too. 30/30/30, and it works for me. 30 mins of cardio, 30 mins of pilates this week, and 30 mins of weight training, and I am going to change one of the time limits on my program. I'm going to a 40 mins of cardio next week. I got the extra 10 mins, so why not use them.  Drink a lot of water. Watch your cals, you may need to up them.. And watch your carbs... You could be eating a lot of the cheap carbs... Are you eating a lot of raw fruits and veggies.
