What the hell, right?  Instead of a goal of losing a certain amount, I wanted to try supporting for time, not a number.  Try a short term goal based on shaping behavior, not necessarily specific results.  

(That being said, I'm aiming for a pound every three or four days.)

Me, today:  6 ft 1 / Currently: 203 Pounds / Goal Weight: 185 Pounds

Who wants to ride out a month together?

Weigh ins on Monday and Thursday mornings?  Starting Monday April 14th and ending on Monday, May 12th?

Okay!  We are good to go!  I'll start us off with the caveat that I'll edit my weigh in tomorrow morning when I get up.  It could be higher, courtesy of my little hot dog debacle earlier today.

Our group includes:

Marmel13 (me), Angelaraja, jbshakedown, hepburn5, bohdan, msallen, elairda, mortalmonkey, marekat, fairwishes27, zephyrdame, iddings, losetheweight32, burgessjk, tracy_rishor, immom, eileneg, dayummy, wordwife, akdawn, emschwab, dutch_girl, teanybeany, allabout91, bpcrue, meganeast, ness6377, knittingarch, jjlewis305, and stuhrjr06.

And now, my stuff:

     Day 1 Weigh-In:  Monday, April 14th

     Marmel13:  203.5 pounds  (I gained a half pound over night.  WTF?)

Game plan for today:

Not drink at work.  KIDDING!

Workout:   Up at 6:45 for today's weigh in. 

Then, off to the gym for half hour of 4.0 mile per hour treadmill, then half hour of basic health club workout with a trainer.  Estimate for that, I can add 450 calories to the burn total, which gives me 2800 calories to subtract from today.

Will aim for between 1600 and 1900 calories in.

Challanges for me, today:

Up early for work out and work, always adds the time and space for an extra meal.  Am writing in a room with other people, which means snacks everywhere.  Plus, then I go into an editing bay for four hours - with nothing but crackers and crap to eat.

Need to remember to drink water, not soda and not eat crap, just because I'm bored.

So, today, the wife had a dinner party - completely unaware that I was heading into a 28 day sprint.

People brought all kinds of awesome, hellishly bad for me food.

I sated myself with the following:

A turkey sandwich on that light wheat bread with hummus:  190 cals

15 little sourdough rounds with 15 dips of seven layer dip (fat free beans, low fat cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc.)  Not knowing EXACTLY what it was, I estimated high with the costco dip:

     Bread: Estimated at 281 calories, Party dip, estimated at 239 calories.

That's 710 calories, which is more than I've had in one sitting for quite sometime.  That being said, that food was eaten over the course of two and a half hours and is little bit less than half of what I've eaten today so far.  Plus, worked out a little bit extra today knowing there was a tidal wave of breadstuffs headed my way.

My goal for this is to still be the social human I like to be, but be completely aware of what I'm eating and how I'm handling that.

I didn't get hungry, I didn't turn into a dick because I let myself get hungry, and I still stopped eating around nine.  All in all, not bad.

I'll let you guys know how the beans work out.

I'm in! I'm 30, 5'9, 166( woo hoo least i've weighed in 10 years!) I have 14lbs to goal weight. I'll aim for 7lbs for may 12th.

Cool.  Yeah, there's no limit to this group, I think.  It's short and sweet - a burst of dieting activity and then we all go our separate ways, like a food based flash mob.

Since weight fluctuates during the day, I'm going to say that weigh-is as close to 8 AM as you can get.

I'm 37 (38 in July), 5'3", 124 (plateaued for a few weeks), GW 118.  (Good news is dropped 12 pounds since september, woohoo! - Bad news, I've been fighting the flu and working out is not done faithfully at all  *sigh*)

Im completely in!!!! I joined this site for the support and I have a 6 weeks til my big europe trip, so ideally I would like to lose 10-15 pounds. :) Im 5'7 188 pounds. Short term goal 10-15 pounds by end of May and long term goal 44 pounds. I used to be really active, but am having such a hard time getting motivated, but I hope this helps, so Im all in!!!!

 Sounds great to me.  (I'm one of those folks who has a problem with long-term commitment. Wink)

I'm uncomfortable revealing specific numbers, but what I'd like to see for myself in the next four weeks is a definite trend toward healthier choices in food and exercise.  I'm having such a hard time, maybe group support will help.

I'm in too!Current 180 5'4" goal weight for the month 172 or so. I really like the short term group idea.

Count me in! I really need some support. Monday will be the start of week 3 for me but haven't found the support I need to stick with it. Hopefully this will help. How exactly will this work? Should I just post here in this forum?

I would love to join!  I'm 5'2 and currently weigh 138.  My short term goal is 130 and my ultimate goal is 125.

This is how I think it'll work, although I'm open to suggestions.

Mine is Marmel@marmel.com so... I'll toss mine out there first so y'all don't think I'm phishing for your credit card numbers.  If you send me yours, I'll invite you to the chat... unless everyone thinks that is a suck ass idea in which case, I'll pass. 

Tentative time:  6pm Pacific, 9pm Eastern... the rest of you will have to do your own math.

Goal-120. (Not in a month)

I think I would like to lose 7 lbs this month. But keep it off and eat healthy.

 You and I are kinda in the same boat weight and size wise. Plus I suffer with no self control, and my goal is 120. You are just closer to it. :D

I'm in.  Peer motivation is powerful.  I'll put in my weight on Monday morning before 8am.

im IN.  I just found the site today.  and I think its AMAZING.

my goal for the 4weeks is to keep track of what I eat and make healtheir choices everyday by critiquing the day before.  If I could lose 10lbs in the 4weeks that would be amazing.  Im also moving to DE from MI during this time so I will have less time to eat healthy.  But I need to learn to eat healthy even during hte stress.  I would also like to work on excerising 6 days a week, at least walking.
