Fourth of July Festivities?

Quote  |  Reply
During these times, my family and i have over a HUGE group of people for a couple days to stay, eat, drink and be merry. During this time, my mother tends to buy lots of snacks, dip, desserts etc for the festivities. We all know food is a social thing and considering that I just started my diet 3 weeks ago and ive been doing so well, I really dont want to end my winning streak within a couple days.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do during these upcoming holidays?

There are a couple of tacks to take. Make sure you write everything down and keep within you daily allotment. You can also choose to maintain for a few days and up your allotment and keep active to increase your calorie burn. Keep hydrated and remember, the first bite tastes the best and limit the quantity of what you eat.

Enjoy your company, and when you need a break, exercise/
We have a big party too (70+ people) and What I usually do a week ahead of time I will cut 100 cals off of each day- the way I see it is I saved up 700 cals that way :)  And cut back on my sodium before hand and processed foods.  This way you will look great by the fourth too!  Be smart, drink lots of water before being "merry" and for every drink....drink 8-12oz of water to keep it all flushed.

Food wise-Try, fat free jello, with Fat free cool whip topped with Fresh blueberries, raspberries or strawberries in the design of a flag!  Good and healthy.  If you grill out burgers, go for the leanest ground beef or go for a turkey burger.  grill some veggies.

If you have to have some chip, try the baked tostitos dipped in salsa for a healthy snack.

instead of Ice cream, edys has some AWESOME frozen yogurts!

Go for a run or some type of exercise for 30mis when you wake up in the morning.  this will keep you motivated to stick to your goals, feel good all day because you worked out and be a positive influence to others! :)

Maybe go for a long walk with your friends.

JUST REMEMBER Stay Hydrated!  Lots and lots of water...

best of luck!  I know its hard!  We are having a pig roast this year so I just keep telling myself "its a lot of protein! LOL
i'm lucky 'cause my dad is recovering from surgery (i'm not saying i'm glad my dad needed surgery!), so we're not really gonna be going anywhere. we'll have a little BBQ at home, and it'll consist of either turkey burgers or 97% fat free hot dogs. it's just gonna be immediate family so it won't be weird or anything (unlike when you bring your own "healthier" burgers or hot dogs to a barbecue and everyone looks at you like your crazy, not to mention that the host might get a little offended).

i just suggest excercising the morning of (so you don't have to worry about saying "i'll excercise later" and just keep putting it off until you flake out and don't do it or are too full/tired to do it), and enjoying things in moderation. get some healthier choices like veggies & lowfat dip and some fruit. drink lots of water! if carbs are a sore spot for you, have the leanest burger possible and ditch the bun (or atleast half of it) and use lettuce to hold it in instead. if it's at your place, it won't be as weird to get your own options or turn things down. don't be afraid to get creative. i've come up with some pretty interesting innovations to stick to healthy eating (:
