Fox "News" - Are you freakin serious??? REALLY????
How the hell can this drivel be shown as news? Please tell me nobody watches this. PLEASE

Utter drivel.
I don't watch much TV but a quick search shows that this guy is a commentator and that's not news. It's on Fox News channel but it's still a show. He's just another talk show host.
While I'm the first person to criticize Glenn Beck for being a lying fear mongering attention seeking drama clown who wouldn't know the meaning of the Constitution if it were explained to him personally by Thomas Jefferson, I don't think he has ever claimed to be a journalist or news reporter, and I don't think Faux News promotes him as such.

That's correct. He is a commentator..just like Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow, etc. They are like 'talk show hosts'... that represent ONE side of the political fence. Bill O'Reilly claims he is more neutral but I disagree..he just is much better at appearing neutral while still pushing the conservative agenda.

But, tell us, what do you really think?
Great invective.

Thank you - I do try to go for accuracy.
That made me want to throw up.

Agreed. The only problem is that his viewers are the ones that think he is a news reporter and not just a commentator...but Fox does not really promote him as one.
The idea that murder is happening in America because of godlessness is ridiculous...murder has been happening since the beginning of time.

Well, to be fair, he's not just talking about murder, but the nonchalant, accepting attitude towards violence he seemed to interpret from that video. Which can be an issue, to be sure. But to blame it on "godlessness" is indeed stupid.
He, and a majority of the Republican party, still justify the invasion of Iraq. His co-ideologue, Rush Limbaugh, characterized Abu Ghraib as fraternity pranks. Cheney thinks water boarding isn't torture, and is perfectly okay. A Bush era legal council said the Geneva Conventions were "outdated" and "quaint." Just recently 30 GOP senators voted against the rights of rape victims under the employment of DOD contractors.
Every single one of these people are, supposedly, God Fearing Americans (tm).
I love Glenn; he is representative of a very large portion of the United States population. It's always comforting to know that I live in a nation with such intelligent and reasonable individuals. I mean, everyone knows that the only reason you don't rape, kill, and steal is because you will be burned in hellfire, suffering in agony, for eternity if you do. Really, it's a relief to know that these individuals do believe in God, since they've already expressed how they'd act if you took that belief away from them.
i'll agree with the comment santonacci made about him being a talk show host.
talk show hosts should be allowed to talk abt stuff like that. We know it's not news. Its their opinions.
Agreed. The only problem is that his viewers are the ones that think he is a news reporter and not just a commentator...
One could say the same about Larry King or Raechel Maddow's viewers....IF one were so closed minded as to think that anybody who disagrees with them must stupid or ignorant. It's a big world out there, with as many opinions as people.

I'm not sure if I'm being called close-minded in this post, but I am going to respond and say that we weren't talking about Rachel Maddow or Larry King. Nor did I say that anyone who disagrees with me is stupid or ignorant. It IS a problem when people watch a show that is meant to be entertainment or opinion based and take it as fact, as many people do with Glenn Beck (or even Rachel Maddow or Larry King). I would just point out that Rachel Maddow and Larry King aren't saying incredibly incendiary things like Glenn Beck does, like the above video or the lies (which he says are opinions) about Obama hating white people or being a communist/marxist/fascist. He has no facts to back that up and when people take such statements as fact, it is kind of disquieting.
Glenn Beck is my idol.
/sarcasm

really? REALLY? the only reason you don't go **** crazy is because of a fear of an imaginary place 'under the earth'???
you don't rape and kill BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO HURT SOMEONE!!! it has nothing to do with YOUR fate, it has to do with empathy for THEIR fate!
you don't rape and kill BECAUSE YOU WILL GO TO JAIL! A PLACE THAT IS ACTUALLY **REAL!**
and as for stealing, people do that because they need money or are greedy. it has nothing to do with punishment. you can't group 'rape' 'murder' and 'theft' as the same things. 'theft' is petty. The other two are unforgivable.
and for your information - according to the bible - rape and murder are perfectly fine solutions to many problems of the day back 2000 years ago when our ancestors were less civilized than we are now. Their judicial system was seriously lacking and 'rape' wasn't even considered a crime, as women were not even 'persons' they were 'posessions'
sorry i couldnt just sit back and not say something but your post is not rational or logical. Belief in GOD has absolutely nothing to do with criminality. You really should research the evidence because there's tons of it. Plus you forgot about that clause they stick in there "jesus died for YOUR sins" and "God forgives all" blah blah blah. If believing in god REALLY worked then there would be no such thing as priests assaulting children! HELLOOOO

i wonder that too but then I have to stop wondering or else I will cry. Fox News and CNN are so terrible. That's why I don't have cable, and when I do see snippets of it, I get unbelievably irate, or unconsolably filled with despair that this is the type of crap that the average person listens to and agrees with.
Ugh, so glad I live in canada where we don't have these types of stations. Yes we receive these stations but we don't produce them. uggghhhhh!
Shepard Smith is pretty much the news guy on Fox News. He's not too bad. Biased? Of course ... this is Rupert Murdoch journalism we're talking about.

Who is taking his statement as fact? He's simply stating his opinion. Last I heard, people were allowed to state their opinions on TV. It's not like he is a reporter on the 10:00 news who all the sudden goes into a tirade while reporting the murder down the street from you. This is his talk show. He can pretty much state any opinion he wants to. do we have to agree with it? Heck no. Can we shout and call it drivel? Sure. Should he be banned from saying such things just because his talk show happenes to be shown on a station that also has news shows? Heck no.

His opinions are rarely opinions and are often crazy speculations presented without any reliance on fact. They are used to incite fear. An opinion would be that he thinks that Obama's health care ideas are not the correct path for America. That's fair and completely legitimate. What I am talking about is when he, for example, repeated the lie that the government is going to start killing old people with death panels. That's not an opinion, it's a speculation (actually a downright lie), not backed up by any fact, but presented as though it were some sort of legitimate possibility. There are plenty of other examples. Sure he is perfectly within his legal rights to lie to people while on television. The question is more whether or not it is a good thing that he does so. I would argue that lies=bad.
