REALLY freaked out, Please Read---Resolved
I had my baby 19 months ago and have not breast feed her since she was 8 weeks old. I had to stop b/c my milk supply was not high enough/being blocked by non-cancerous tumors that I can't remember the name of. My milk was long gone. Just now, I was taking a hot shower and I felt that let down feeling. I looked down and I'm producing that yellowish rich breast milk that comes before your "real" milk comes in. I KNOW that's what it is. I started ttom today. It is VERY unlikely that I am pg. Why in the world could this be happening? Anyone has this happen?
Could be another tumor sitting on top of the milk duct and making you secrete milk. But then, I only heard of secreting tumors by watching House. I say, get it checked out by a doctor asap.
I don't really know why it would be happening but my mom had her last child 15 years ago and she can still squeeze the cholostrom (sp?) out of her boobs!
Its from BOTH breasts! And they feel like they are getting fuller and heavier by the min...of course, that part could be in my head b/c I'm freakin! I don't have healthy insurance till Jan and I have no doctor in the town I've been living in the past few months! I can't afford to go to the doctor over nothing, but god, what if its not nothing?

That is conforting. Do you think I could have producing a little this whole time and just not noticed somehow? I mean, it seems like it was all of a sudden, I haven't noticed any in a long time. And I was TRYING to get milk out towards the end of that 8 weeks and it just wasn't happening. This is so strange!

Good info. Too bad it points to "its normal" and "there's a problem! I guess that's just the human body, so complex. I'm a little calmer now though. I guess I'll wait and see what happens over the next few days, and be trying to budget a doctor trip if need be.
One question - have you taken a pregnancy test? 'Unlikely' isn't the same as impossible... if the test is positive you'll have your answer - hormonal surge - and if it's negative then you need to go to the doctor to make sure there isn't anything serious wrong.
I had read somewhere that you should stop producing after a year.....
.....w that said, I have had some of that come out from time to time, if there is unusal pressure on my breast, and it's ttotm. Granted, it's a very small amount, but my doc said it was fine....
Once you start making milk and then dry up, its normal that a little might leak, even 15 years later. Thats just hormones and stuff. Same thing happened to me and the dr. said it was normal. But if you are concerned, its always good to call the doctor.
Hello there,
I think it might just be a clogged milk duct. that happened to me with my daughter. how i don't know. if it is painful that is most likely what it is. My daughter is 3 and i haven't nursed since she was two and every once and a while i will produce milk and i will fill like i am having a let down. it is possible to continue to produce milk especially if you you have stimulation there of another kind (hint hint).
Have a fantastic day
Even if you think it's a clogged milk duct...go to the doctor!!! Not to spread worries into your head, but my Aunt was breastfeeding her daughter and started bleeding but didn't think anything of it. By the time she paid enough attention to it she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. So, please, get this checkd out. Better safe than sorry!
Wow 15 yrs and still leaking. My youngest is 2.5 and I still have some come out occassionally and I didn't even breast feed. Is there anyway to dry it up?
