Freaking out about food poisioning

Quote  |  Reply

Okay, for lunch I just ate some leftover turkey chili which I made a couple weeks ago and froze the leftovers.  I took some of the leftovers out of the fridge Sunday night, and it actually stayed pretty frozen for at least a whole day.  I just ate it for lunch.

Then I realized today is Friday, and remembered a few years ago I ate leftover turkey sloppy joes a week or so after I made then, and had TERRIBLE food poisioning- the worst sickness I've ever had.  I'm freaking out and looked on the internet that states cooked poultry is good in the fridge for 2-3 days.

Am I going to get sick?!  What is it with poultry?  What bacteria grows on it so fast???

If you thawed it in the fridge, then it probably wasn't fully thawed till tuesday sometime.  I'd venture to guess it was fine.  It was in there 3 days not over a week.... the time it's frozen it doesn't grow anything.  2-3 days is the safe answer.  Odds are you won't get sick.
