Freestyles: HK's (and Mrs. HK's) first Dance Competition

Quote  |  Reply

I'll edit or respond to this topic more later, after having completed it, but for now, suffice to say that a week from today, the wife and I will be taking place in our very first dance competition. We will be dancing a total of three dances: Foxtrot (we'll be dancing this step with our instructors), Club Swing/Hustle (we'll be dancing this together) and Triple Swing (again, together.)

Wish us luck! I'll tell you all about the actual competition later!

Here's hoping we don't get too nervous. :)

Good luck!

Just go out and have fun, don't worry about where you end up placing.  Your both having fun will actually translate well despite missed steps etc.  The judges will pay more attention to your attitude than your steps and the attitude carries into the dance as well as keeping you more relaxed.  Also, if you have fun you'll want to do more.

So, really.. Freestyles was a whole ton of fun. I don't really know how well K and I did. I know, for myself, I got in front of all the people and froze up a bit, especially when doing the Foxtrot which is not precisely my favorite dance in the whole wide world. I did alright, altogether, for a newcomer, and I DID have alot of fun and got a chance to really SOCIALIZE with other people in my studio. I'd do it again in six months. :)
