Fresh start

Hi....I am a 33 yo female who is 33 lbs overweight.  Heres my story...it starts me at a flattering wt of 148 for this 5'7'' medium built female then two years of nursing school brought me up to 171 lbs, but if that wasn't bad enough, find out my husband of 10 yrs has been having a 5 mth affair on me....ouch!  Then happily passed my nursing boards and got a wonderful job at in town hospital working overnights, another ouch... so long story short, I became a divorced 31 yr old with two kids working overnight, figuring out how to keep my home and sanity.  No time for excersise, I wonder why?

Happy part is I have met someone new, happy, kids happy, home wonderful...I have advanced my carreer into Intensive Care nursing (still overnights, but now 40 hours / week thats four nights a week).......but now weigh 181 lbs....

All this in four years...I have done weight watchers, joined gyms..power walks and I am a yo yo...Now I am more determined than ever...I started today with counting calories, went for a four mile walk (same path I did before while thinner and it was alot easier back then!) gardened and most important increasing the water intake from 0 to 100%.  I have decreased my ice coffee intake from 5/day to 2/day and have joined Calorecount.com.  I ordered a treadmill that should be arriving in a week or so, so that i can excercise when it rains out....I have read alot of the great ideas on fiber intake, eating a excercise....so I hope I keep up with my motivation  ...... wish me luck!

good luck!

i'm just starting too; trying to get serious for once.

awesome, great luck to you!

I think of myself as starting fresh right now too. I took almost 8 months off from paying attention to what I ate and I put on 5 pounds. not a huge amount of weight but it slapped some sense into me and I finally realize that even though other people may have fast metabolisms they don't need to worry about, I definitely need to make sure I don't eat too much, even with the amount of exercise that I do. I just can't make excuses anymore.

sounds like you are starting over in a lot of aspects, and that is a great opportunity to really take control of your life and make better decisions than you did before. good luck!

Thanks for the encouraging words...so far all is good...I wish i only gained 5 lbs in 8 months.  I have been comitted to my H2O and excercise and watching what I eat and I feel great.

Hope to hear from you again, good luck to you
