Why didn't anybody tell me about the first year out of college 20?!

Mine was 30 first year out of college. It's the stress and the overwork and the fast food, I think. (In my case it was also having moved to the US, where the environment is that much more toxic).

I lost weight like crazy in college. The good news is I gained over 30lbs when my mom passed and that was three years ago. The 30lbs have seemed to have made a permanent home and I want them evicted

and trustwomen, my husband gained a bunch of weight when he moved here from Australia. Apparently food is a lot cheaper and restaurants give you 3x the portions here than in Australia. OOPS.

Fast food is cheaper, supermarkets are more inconvenient to get to (in DC anyway, which is where I was), and there are so many inexpensive tasty restaurants as well! And yes, the portions are larger than in Canada, too. It was also the stress of my job, however - not only the restaurants.

Oh, and spiro - I started lifting last week and haven't lost an ounce since. Does that make sense? I actually think I've managed to resculpt myself a bit, believe it or not, my rolls are smaller, but the scale is steady. (Sorry for the potential hijack).

Whew! I'm not the only one. I think mine is more related to moving out of the country last year, tho now that I'm back, should lose it, I think.

However, in college, you are so active - walking everywhere, activities, sports, gym, parties with dancing all night, etc. Plus, with me, I was too busy to ever remember to eat! Add that to all the stress-related weight loss...

and out of college, 8 hrs working each day, mostly sedentary - or at least not practically running to classes and labs. Yeah, weight gain is almost unavoidable. We can lose it, tho! I'm planning to get back to my healthy eating ways and try not to let stress cause me to snack on junk. Good luck!

I didn't gain any weight right out of college, I was working a crazy schedule and doing all I could to sleep and eat enough.
However my first year of marriage was bad, I gained 30lbs.  He eats huge portions, so I started to eat more.  I didn't make the connection that he had a more physically demanding job than I did, so I packed on the pounds.

In college, I gained 50 pounds.

Out of college 2 years this summer, and I've lost 70. Go figure.

I gained about twenty pounds during college...but I blame it on sympathy eating with the missus when she was pregnant with our daughter (first child)...didn't lose that weight until I got on here...

I didn't gain in college until I was out of the dorms.  When I lived in the dorms the food was terrible and I didn't keep a lot of snacks in my room.  Unfortunately I moved into an apartment and went grocery shopping and discovered the joys of being able to buy and eat whatever I wanted... oops.

It didn't help when I sent my fiance (now husband) out for bread and he came home with bread, fritos, and oatmeal cream pies.

Easily gained 20 my first year. Sadly I didnt catch onto my trend until that spring quarter when I saw before and after pictures next to each other. Worked my butt off and Ive only lost 10 of the 20 since (Im ending my 2nd year). Its too easy to gain and so hard to lose!
