So frickin' nauseated...
So I just finished a strength training routine for the first time! I'm proud of myself! I chose Keith Hobman's Use It or Lose It routine, which I liked because it wasn't too easy, wasn't too hard, and I felt that it was a full body workout with range of motion exercises as well. Plus, I could do it at home and didn't need to buy anything for it.
So I'm done, and proud of myself, and feel like I'm going to puke for NO REASON. I think I heard somewhere that squats can give you that feeling, is that the problem? Is there anything I can do so that I can keep up the program wihtout feeling sick afterwards? I HATE feeling nauseated and I know that if I always feel this way afterward, I will have a really hard time keeping it up. :c
that feeling will pass, just keep up the awesome work! I felt the same way when I did eight minute thighs the first time. the soreness should pass after the first week and a half, maybe two. try not to eat a full meal two hours before working out. was it a workout dvd, and if so how was it? i'm looking for something new.
I felt the same when I first began strength training. Although I didnt do any squats, just heavy weights. It went away after the first few times I did it.

Do you think I would get less sick if I didn't push myself quite so hard? I did push myself pretty hard for my first time. It made me feel very accomplished, but... I was pretty sure that I was going to throw up for about 30 minutes, which was FAR from pleasant.

I think thats normal when you really push yourself hard, it happens to me sometimes after a really hard run, and Ive read about it happening to others as well. It should decrease after you become more accustomed to your program, however, if you really exert yourself doing anything physical its bound to happen. If it really bothers you I would suggest building up your fitness a little more gradually instead of just going full out right away.

Drink something, you're dehydrated.
When I started strength training I felt the same way. So I told my trainer how I was feeling and he told me to make sure I'm breathing properly. Ends up sometimes when you are struggling and working yourself hard you end up holding your breath and not breathing properly. As long as I make sure I exhale and breath properly for what I am doing I have no problems.
I feel your nausea! LOL, I am sorry about this. I get nauseated alot when I exercise. I have acid reflux, ulcer/gastritis and stooping and then laying on my back etc. makes me queasy, throwing up some too. It was a real bummer when I was doing it When i was working out with a personal trainer. Sip your fluids and not use a straw when drinking right afterwards. I think if you are working that hard you might need to back off abit. You be the judge. Have a good one!
Most importantly:
1. Drink a lot of water before working out. Plan a head and start drinking 2 hours before you plan on doing exercise (this always helped me). Deyhdration doesn't help with the sickness feeling and once you've got it chugging a bunch of water only makes it worse
2. Remember to breath!!!!
3. Take your time on exercises. If you finding them hard slow it down or take a few breaks between sets. You'll still get the same workout benefit if you do your entire work out it just might take longer. Plus, a break will make sure you breath.
