Friday weigh in????
Um excuse me but I can't find the old Friday Weigh in thread. If it's gone I'd like to start a new one. Anyone?
Hi , apparently my home scale and my boyfriends scale are different. So I am going to go by my home scale (which said I started at 145 instead of 140 ). :( So for this week I am down to 144.5, my weight varies soooo much from day to day and throughout the day that I think I might have to weigh everyday so I can see a trend. I'm still happy that it is down .5 though. When I get lower I'll find a reliable one to see what I actually weigh. I'll still post my stuff on here though. Good luck to everyone!
Oh yea, I am going to the lake for the weekend. So I hope I can keep it under control when I am there....ahhh. Does anyone have any tips?

Down another 2.4 lbs. Way to go everyone!
Ok hold on to your hats! It's time to turn the page on the calendar. Tomorrow begins a brand new month. If July wasn't great for you, just tear it off. We're starting fresh! A whole new 31 days to make things happen. Set new goals, break plateaus, maybe try a new workout. Hey the sky IS the limit. What do you say???? I've been stuck for about 3 weeks, so I'm looking for change. August could be my ticket out of the 170s club for good!!!! August will however, present challenges. I'm on vacation at the beach for 2 weeks!!! BUT....my laptop, food scale, bathroom scale, and weights, will all be going too! Can't afford to let my gaurd down for a second!
happy to say that the last full week of July melted away 2.5 Lbs for me. And I am on pace for another 2.5 lbs this week...
HIIT is my secret!
HIIT is my secret!
Harlequin, Congrats! That's awesome!
HIIT???? spill please.
HIIT???? spill please.
Ok tomorrow is Friday...AGAIN! Must say that I am a little (who am I kidding, I'm ALOT) frustrated!!!!! I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. Not that I've been bad, just haven't had good news for a while. I've been on a plateau for some time now. Plus job change has lowered my activity somewhat. So whatever it is tomorrow, it begins a new week, and I'll just have to move forward.
Good luck everyone! I hope you all do fantastic! That would be good motivation for me.

Ok it can always be worse huh? A total loss this week of .6. I'll take it. Like I have a choice right? Start vacation next week for 2 weeks at the beach. Now that will be tough. I would love it if I could just maintain.
I hope everyone is a loser today! Good luck!

Down 1 lb this week, not to bad I don't think, at least its in the right direction! Might have something to do with those chips I ate last night.... oh well nothing I can do about it now, just have to behave through the weekend!
I am the same as last week....:(. I feel I have been doing really well though so I expect some good loss next week. Munsey, I think HIIT means "High Intensity Interval Training". I could be wrong though lol. I used to do a lot of it when I worked out with a personal trainer, it burns soooo many calories. Congrats to everyone that lost!
Really quick weigh-in, I am down from 173.4 to 172.0, wahoo lost 1.4 lbs this week. Hooray hopefully the same for next week!
Down 1 to 172.
This is a slooooooooowww process.....
Munsey have a Great time at the beach. I am totally jealous!

This morning's weigh in was 291, which puts me 3 down from last week! I am wearing a pair of pants to work today that didn't fit me for several months...and it feels great!
HIIT is short-hand for High Intensity Interval Training and there are quite a few subjects on the boards about it. It started with a good friend back home for me, he is a gymnastics coach and he gave me the advice to do sprinting workouts to build my endurance and to whip my muscles into shape fast and economical.
The theory is, that HIIT workouts, if done correctly, set your metabolism up to burn far longer than the time you exercise. It has to do with building up lactic acids in the muscles and the work the body does to repair those muscles after a hard workout - it also does good things for building important "explosive" muscles, the kind that help you move quickly.
Since I am a big guy, my two main exercises are the elliptical machine and swimming. On the ellipse, I do a full warm-up (10-12 minutes) and then do 8-12 "hills" where you basically pedal very slowly for 1:20 to drop your heart rate and then race for :40 as hard as you can go. It is almost completely an "all out" exercise for those 40 seconds, under control, that does the trick. Your heartrate will shoot up and you should be having trouble talking or even remembering your name at the peak of it, then you cool for 1:20 and try to recover at a VERY low turnover, and then back to the boil! Finish with 5-6 minutes of cool-down at a more ordinary pace for your ability.
Then, I swim about 150 yards (3 laps) to warm up and then do 6-8 blasts. Right now, my blasts are only 25 yards (1 length) at nearly racing speed. After a blast, I catch my breath (5 seconds or so) and then swim another length of the pool at a slower pace and regain my heart rate and breathing. At the other end, I breath for about 20 seconds without swimming and then blast again! I finish this with 100-300 yards of swimming, mostly trying to work on my form.
Obviously, your heart health is important to guage. You want to push yourself as hard as you can, but not to some insane level where you feel like puking. When I finish on the ellipse rider, my feet are a bit wobbly, but I can walk and talk. In each exercise, my aerobic heart rate of 130-136 jumps to 151-155 during the intervals, and I will warn that your HR will continue to climb for a couple of seconds AFTER you stop the interval. During the calm period, I aim to get my HR back below 140 before I rush again.
I actually look forward to these exercises, as they feel great once I finish.
And, of course, I am watching my intake of calories and trying to feed my body plenty of good nutrients.
