My friend is dying

At first they said a few years, then a few months, now a few days.

She is only 25 years old.

She was diagnosed with advanced colorectal cancer in May.

Before the week is up, she will die from it.

She was on my college newspaper with me-  a great writer and editor.

She could always be counted on to join in the festivities- be it a homecoming football game or an intermural soccer game.

We copy edited well into the night together many many times.

She is a good person, a strong person. She is not afraid to die.

The newspaper staff wanted to send her to Europe or to a NASCAR race (she loves Jeff Gordon).

But that was last week- when we thought she had time.

In November, she is supposed to be married in Nevada to her first and only love- James.

She refuses to be known as "Partner 1" or "Spouse 2" in California : )  

But now the wedding is up in the air, the bridal shower is called off, and we're all praying she'll make it to Thursday when we can all see her.

And I'm at a loss.

All I can offer her is my presence, they say...

I'm so sorry for you, her and all the people who love her....

I am so sorry to hear that - my thoughts are with her and all her friends and family.  Losing someone that young is never easy, bt she is obviously surrounded by people that love her.

It does seem very sad. But when an angel's work is done here on earth, well then they must return to the lord. Of course we question why, and it all seems so senseless...only time will reval all the unknown....Just remember she is going to a better place, no more hurt, tears, pain, no more bad days...and afterall...STARS BELONG TO THE SKY.
