Your friends and your baby

I guess this is more of just me getting something off my chest than an actual question, because I don't really think I can do anything about this.  But I'm wondering if anyone else has been in this situation.  For the most part my friends treat my baby like normal: they coo and smile and hold him and talk to him but that's about it.  I have one friend who is driving me CRAZY, though, because when she's around my kid, it's like non-stop baby talk and holding.  I can't even have a conversation with her because instead of answering me or engaging in conversation, she'll just look back at the baby and babble at him. Or she'll answer my question at him, in baby talk, "yes, I did have a good day today!  Yes I did, who's a good baby?" or, "mommy's boss is a crazy lady, yes she is!" It's super annoying!!  I thought that as the one with the baby, I would be the annoying one but it's getting to the point where I dread seeing her when I have the baby because of this.  I can't even talk to her, and in public it's downright embarrassing.   My husband feels the same way.  I guess I just have to wait until he grows up a little since she hopefully will quit the baby talk when he's no longer a baby.

Does anyone else have this problem??  I thought maybe it would subside with him growing out of the newborn stage.  I mean, he's five months now.  I think the new-ness of the situation has worn off.  Any advice?

Wow...That would get old. Does your friend have children of her own? Maybe she's just not accustomed to infants and doesn't realize it's OK to continue adult conversation? Or maybe this is how she's seen people treat kids?

My advice would be to see if you could get her in a group situation with the baby and see if she eases up. Or maybe make no-baby dates with her so that you can still enjoy being friends without the baby talk.
