TODAY WEIGHT: 166
GOAL WEIGHT for next payday (7-20): 160
Yes, as of Monday I am now a grammy to a beautiful perfect little boy. I can stare at this little miracle for hours. The little family came home on Wednesday and we have let the BF stay to help DD3. He is doing wonderful with DD3 and the baby. Last night DD made him stay at his house so he could get some rest. I told him we would not lock the door because I knew he would be back but he did stay home because DD was pretty adamant.
Anyway, Chris thanks for the mashed cauliflour recipe, I will try it.
I really need to up my protein somehow and up my calories. I know that I am messing with my metabolism by not eating enough and I really want to get rid of this bowl full of jelly of a belly!!!
Missed you all but thought about you often.
SOOOO happy for you all!!! Take care of yourself, grammy!
MASSIVE CONGRATS to Nana Kim!!!! ( : (((((HUGS)))))
that is always so exciting.
Yipee Kim! Did you decide on what the grandbaby will call you?
Protein is an area I lack, so if you find some good snacks and other ways to add protein, please let me know!
protein-me too. i need more most days
Congrats Kim!
Hubby bought some whey protein at Walmart. I am going to see what more I can add it too. I did make a shake with skim milk and a banana....it was great for after workout. I could probably try to add to coffee and tea.
I got this out of my NROLFW book: for 5 bars
4 scoops chocolate whey protein powder (I have vanilla and will use instead), 2/3cp ground flaxseed, 1/3cp water, 4Tbsp. smooth natural peanut butter (I eat nothing but creamy Jif), 1package splenda or stevia (1tsp?) Mix together in bowl, will be thick but if you think too thick add a Tbsp or 2 of water, divide into 5 balls and shape into bars, seal in plastic wrap and store in refrigerator or freezer. This is funny......book says to eat one at a time....lol![]()
258 calories, 21 grams of protein, 12 grams of carbs, 2 grams of fiber, 14 grams of fat (1 gram saturated fat)
Whey protein is also added into cereal milk...wow.
yeah, 'cause I wanna call you nana kim or somethign for a while! : )
I am stealing your recipe -- awesome! I have Atkins cappuccino flavor shake mix and PB? um, yum! string cheese like 5 grams I think -- love that, 60 cals. can of tuna -- 150, rinse it. fish filets --I like tilapia, very quick and easy. less that 100. cottage cheese has some, 80 cals a 1/2 cup, and is good in conjunction with so many things. : )
Wish I liked peanut butter!
I put whey & flax in my oatmeal...DH hates it but I think it's OK. I've also put whey in coffee & chai tea.
I've warned before, but if you're using it much, check the cholesterol in the whey powder you buy. It's not there naturally (additives) so there are brands that have little or none. I bought what is supposed to be unflavored but it is sweet & vanilla-like, unfortunately. There are recipes for using it in baking and soups.
good ideas. I do a shake in the morning... I should add it to more stuff... i tried adding some to my coffee though, and I did not like it.
Stupid question- how many grams/oz of protein should one consume?
edit to add- stealing recipe :)
nutellabella, RDA is .4 gms/lb body weight. You'll see much higher recommended by some people on here. I do think that is for an average person and dieters/ weight lifters need a little more...but not twice as much. The body can only build so much muscle in a day so extra gets burned for fuel (expensive fuel), converted to fat, or excreted.
I weigh about 135 (132.2 today, woo hoo) so I shoot for around 55-60 gms.
155.4 again finally today. I hate TTOM --I spike then and then I spend a week working my way back tdown to pre TTOM. sheesh
how are the rest of you losers??? ( :
Kim, I was thinking about making those protein balls (hee hee) for SS. The fiber is even better than you quoted, over 6 grams...I suppose from all that flaxseed. It would save him a big hassle in mixing up his protein drinks at school. Thanks for posting that!
128.2
Day before yesterday I ate a lemon bar and a pumkin cookie with cream cheese frosting.....my dinner, and I did not have an evening snack. DDs friends family owns a coffee/sandwich/bakery shop. The food is wonderful and she brought over a container of cookies and a lemon bar just for me. Too bad it did not add to my protein only to my happiness of sitting down with a cup of tea and enjoying the much missed amazing lemon bar!!! I do not feel guilty at all because I do not really go for sweets. Going to the movies with a group of friends tonight then going to a house for snacks and drinks. I will be a good girl because I really want to workout tomorrow.
Computer is tempemental-must be buddies with my scale- It keeps kicking me off this site. Only this site. Anyway
158![]()
down .5 from last week but come on. I want my 154 back!
I ran on Wednesday7.5km and had to pull my pants up the hole time. I ran this morning too, 5.5km in shorts, cause of the pants issue, and it was freezing(I warmed up quick though). My X will take the kids every second weekend so I'll be able to run on those days too-not just Wednesday's. YAY
-I'll be stealing your recipe also. Thanks
How is everybody??
Sarah...the same thing happened to me on my computer at home. I did not have the problem at work. My home computer is now working on this site so go figure...very wierd.
hi everyone! Boy do I need to get back on track. Thanks for the info Chris... interestingly enough, I read that in the winter women should eat an additional 20g of protein to help combat the winter blues (and winter fat)... so i will aim for b/w 60 and 80.
Hope all is well!
what are we going to tease you with lovingly, puppy? I see you as a Nana. ( : how is the pretty baby?
how's chris?
I probably do not get enough protein if that is right.... I do not keep track of g but I know what little of it I eat. maybe I will try to beat the blue with meat. that made me laugh. ![]()
hope everyone else is ok too and having a healthy holiday season! ( : love you, all!
Baby Caleb is doing so well. He is so precious. I hope DD waits to move out of the house for at least a year; I cannot imagine her doing this on her own, in her own apartment....scary. She will be working, going to college and raising a baby. I do like nana...I first thought of a goat but it does sound better then grammy. My mom is an Oma; I was thinking of Omie. Hubby sometimes calls himself Poppy, so I have to tease him about Opium and being a flower..etc. It must be hard to be married to me![]()
I never thought about beat the blue with meat.....lol
. How about shake the blues with protein (as in shake)...get it?
Chris where are you??
YAY!! Nana Kim, I like it. I think Omie is cute too though. ( : I am 31 and still scared to death to have a kid, let alone do it alone, so I hope she stays with you too!
I agree, where is chris? ) :
good pun on the protein! ( : I have one every day for breakfast.
Hi all! I just woke up from all the turkey!!! Actually, I was off work until the 2nd --which was crazy busy, of course -- and discovered I have three more vacation days to take off or lose. I'm working a (drum roll, please) amazing total of 5.5 days in December! LOL!! Just Tuesdays & Thursdays until the 18th. Woo hoo!
Kim, it's wonderful that you get to spend so much time w little Caleb now. I too hope she stays put to have your help and support for awhile. I remember what a blur those days were and I was married. (Although my ex only changed about two diapers EVER!)
I haven't had a chance to catch up on posts/journals but I hope to later today.
LOVE YOU ALL!
