Yuck....that's happening all over the place I hear....

that sucks! Ours arent frozen but the water isnt as hot as usual!

Turn the tap on a bit. If the water keeps flowing it won't freeze.

With some luck your frozen pipes aren't frozen solid. So leave it open and see.

All I  know is that my car didn't wanna start this morning. Finally, we got it started.

It's 8 freaking degrees here. 8.

Which isn't as bad as it is in the Midwest! I wouldn't wanna be in Illinois or Minnisota today!

yesterday's low was -1, today it's 11... My car almost sounded like it didn't want to start either today... Hopefully your pipes didn't crack or bust.

Wow...you guys are having a heat wave!  It was -5 at my house this morning.

AND, I heard Chicago area and north was -27  That's COLD!!!

At -27, I darn well hope the city is closed today. That's ridiculous :p

Lots of minnesota hit -35 yesterday. We only had -15 when I woke up yesterday, got to a high of 1*. This morning was much better, it was only -4*. It is just a fact of life living hear.

Hope none of your pipes burst, that creates a HUGE mess.

Oh, and no, the city here does not close when we get that cold, you just dress warmer and have a good battery in your car.

What made me pop out of bed this morning to check the pipes was the news nattering away on the clock radio; when the temperature at the airport nearest me was reported to be -9, I jumped up and headed for the kitchen. Cold water is running; hot water is not. The pipes run through the external wall behind the cabinets, so hair dryers are now warming the air in the cabinets.

bill, I hope the pipe doesn't burst, too! How lovely to call in to work to say, "I can't come to work today; I'm blow-drying my kitchen!"

I rather tell work that then tell them you can not go to work because your kitchen and basement is flooding and you are waiting for the plumber!

Hair dryers work great, I have had to do that in the past unfortunatly.......

Here is to hoping we all warm up soon!

They told us last night at work that if we get as much snow as they're calling for, we're not going to be allowed to go home... we're going to have to stay and work the overnight shift because night shift won't be able to get there. I'm pissed.

yeah but it has just got cold! After that crazy groundhog DIDNT see his shadow! :)

That crazy groundhog Phil didn't see his shadow, but the local groundhog event we had in small town of Cochranton, PA (Curt) DID see his shadow. 

Regardless...it's cold outside!

ITS SO COLD BURRRR* seriously chicago sucks right now and its snowing:( and my pipes are frozen too..agh  .. it is the wind that's making it worst

The hair dryers worked (yay!), and after the water started to flow, I waited a while longer to see whether puddles were going to form anywhere along the wall the pipes are in. They didn't. I set the thermostat at 72 (!!!!!), opened all the cupboard doors, and left the faucet dripping just a little bit.

Interesting to see that DC was colder than Anchorage last night!
