Sorry if this is a dumb question but up until recently I didn't eat fruit. But now I am a fruit eating machine. :) Thanks Rahana.
So anyways my question is this....I am going camping and I am bring a fruit bowl.
What fruits go well together and will keep OK in my cooler?

I'd stick with fruits that don't necessarily need to even go in the cooler.. the ones that sit open in the produce aisle: Apples, Pears, Bananas, Oranges, Kiwi, Pineapple, etc.
I think most fruits go together.. but some example could be..
bananas + strawberries
blueberres + raspberries + blackberries.
Mango + Orange
And for something TRULY Trippy: Blueberry + Lemon or Lime Juice :D Sweet and Tart at the same time! :D

I eat fruit every day and on sundays I make a big fruit salad and eat it through the week. I like to use the following..
blueberries
strawberries
raspberries
kiwi
peaches
mango
melons are good also. I would stay away from bananas because they get yicky over time. Some people like grapes also. and they keep pretty well.

Thanks HK and Dcgirl. Another stupid question.....can I just put the fruit together dry or do I have to put a "sauce" or something on it to keep it fresh.....and how long can I expect it to stay fresh?
I like apples, oranges, pineapple, melon, bananas, blueberries with yogurt mixed in.
Or try a Waldorf Salad - apples, celery, raisins, walnuts, and a bit of mayonnaise/miracle whip and lemon juice
Or (not really a fruit salad) a carrot salad - grated carrots and raisins, with mayonnaise/miracle whip
Also - if you make it ahead, don't use fresh pineapple - the acids cause everything to break down into mush. Found that out the hard way once! Canned is fine though. :-)

Some fruits, like apples and pears, will go brown if left out in the air. Some citrus juice (such as OJ) will lengthen the time it takes to become brown.
I like mixing pineapple, mango, grapes, and watermelon.
Thank you. :)
My latest favorite combo is blueberries and mango. Yummy.
I don't usually put anything in my fruit salad (sauce wise), but if you're putting in apples or anything that turns brown, a little lemon juice helps. If I were an evil girl I would tell you that maraschino cherry juice and marshmallow cream make a wonderful addition to fruit salad... Ooops. Now we both have to live with that knowledge!!

I went camping last weekend and brought along: raspberries, blueberries, apples, oranges, strawberries and grapes.
I wouldn't mix anything ahead of time. Berries can be delicate and heavy fruits can smoosh soft berries with their weight.
Wash the grapes ahead of time and they make easy snacking.
I brought yogurt, too.

I put pineapple juice, orange juice, or canned mandarin oranges in my fruit salad to make it juicy. It also keeps things like apples from turning brown.
My favorite fruit bowl - watermelon, kiwi, fresh pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, orange juice.
