Hey, I was wondering if anyone has tried just eating fruit for breakfast. I heard its good for detoxifying your body, and that people usually feel better doing this. When i eat a big breakfast of heavy things i want to take a nap afterward lol not good! so I was going to give fruit a chance for a month to see how i feel, anyone got expeirience on fruit for breakfast? how do you feel and has it helped your digestive system?
Your body detoxes itself. I usually eat eggs and some fruit. Sometimes a natural cereal with milk. I avoid "heavy" things like pancakes and french toast or a lot of breads b/c they make me tired. Although sometimes I'll have a half a bagel or a piece of toast with almond butter.
Fruits are good. What's even better is combing fruits with protein and whole grains. This will keep you feeling fuller longer and give you more energy, plus all the nutritional benefits.

There is no need to detox. Drink plenty of water and eat clean/balanced that is what your body needs.
Fruit will not "detox" your body. Fruit is good and you should eat it everyday but not just fruit alone for breakfast.
Try an egg, whole grain toast and fruit. Or whole grain cereal, milk and fruit. Or a whole grain muffin with peanut butter and fruit. You need more than just fruit. Some good fats and whole grains also.
just fruit will be burned quite quickly and you might find yourself incredibly hungry early in the day.
i think pairing the fruit with some peanut butter and a glass of milk or a cup of yogurt would make you feel much more energized.
if you eat a balanced diet your body will have no problems detoxing itself.
i eat a piece of fruit either in/with my oatmeal every day for breakfast now, because I used to eat bagels and found they just didn't fill me up. The combination really seems to hold me over-I need to start adding a little more protein to it I think like a scoop of pb or something. seriously though, i love oatmeal with chopped apples and cinnamon! Especially now that its getting a little chilly. I have also found (maybe tmi haha) I don't know if its because of my breakfast combo or what, but I am definitely "cleard out" so to speak! I don't think it matters what time of day you eat the fruit though, I think fruit has a good amount of fiber which aids in the "detox" and oatmeal does it for me too. And I love fiber one bars as snacks. I don't think actual detoxing is necessary as everyone has also said. If you eat enough fiber, believe me you will be detoxified haha.
Since I try to save most of my calories for dinner and an evening snack, I often have fruit for breakfast, though not EVERY day. Yesterday I had red grapefruit, and today I had a pear and a glass of V8 juice. Tomorrow, I'll probably have a bowl of cereal.
I honestly don't even label my meals anymore. First thing for breakfast nearly every day, I eat fruit. Usually it is grapes, strawberries, pineapple, apples, etc. When I feel hungry again (maybe an hour later) I eat again, something else, whatever I feel like I guess. If I am going anywhere then I pack myself another small meal. When I read Skinny Bitch, they said to do it though they aren't doctors so you can't always listen to everything you read. The book also said that it is believed that you can absorb more of the nutrients if you eat fruits by themselves than if you consume them with other things. I don't know how true that it... Eating fruit in the morning is just something I like to do.

I received an email from a friend last week that said just about what you did, that fruit should be eaten on an empty stomach. I checked out a couple of websites that said the same thing. Here's one of them: http://www.fredericpatenaude.com/fruit-articl e.html. And, here's another: http://amazinglyenough.blogspot.com/2009/07/e ating-fruit-could-save-your-life.html.
I'm definitely no expert, but this seemed to make sense. I'd be curious to see what some of the more knowledgeable folks here have to say.
Just fruit would not be enough. I combine fruit with a whole grain and a protein. For example:
cereal with sliced fruit and milk
bagel/2 slices toast with PB and sliced nanners or apples on it as a sandwich with a glass of milk
fruit and yogurt
You may not get all the nutrients but the combo makes it worth it...I am not hungry til my next meal.
we have livers for a reason, you know...
I suppose you could do it if you really wanted to but I'd be starving within two hours if I did that. I usually need some protein and fat to get me going.
Hello!
I always have fruit for breakfast and it works just fine for me! I can take my time eating it so my body will have the time to remind me that I have eaten enough. If you want to eat fruit for breakfast, only eat fruit or some yoghurt. Try not to mix it with bread because than you can start 'bloating'.
Mix fresh fruit with dried fruit for extra energy! Kiwi's are a real vitamine C boost!
I always have a couple of dried figs (good to go to the toilet)
2 kiwi's (vitamine C)
Big apple
Yoghurt
well i didnt say i wanted to eat something to keep me full, basically on the fruits thing i would eat as many fruits as i wanted, supposedly it does not interfere with the elimination process.. I know it is not very filling but if i am eating as many fruits as i want untill noon, i was just wondering if anyone has tryed it, thankyou for any comments~erica
actually it went really bad i lasted 3 days don't do this its a dumb idea it makes your blood sugar crash all morning~erica
