How much fruit is TOO much?
All of my favorite fruits are in season, which means on sale! While thats awesome, I've been eating so much fruit lately that I'm wondering if all this sugar, even though its 100% natural, can have negative effects? I've been extra ravenous this week, for example.
Today I had (along with my regualr breakfast & lunch, of course) 1/4 cup raisins, 2 slices of cantaloupe, 1 banana, 1 plum, and 1/2 cup of blueberries. And I really want to move in on an apple next...but am I over my fruit limit? And is there a fruit limit??
When you start having the runs, it's time to cut back.
No fruit limit as long as you're getting enough calories and a resonable balance of fats, protein and carbs. How about ditching the raisins for some berries? Raisins are always in season.
Exactly, stick to just what`s fresh and in season. Have a large variety but not too much of each (says the girl who could eat half a watermelon without even blinking). As gi-jane would say, the problem with eating too much fruit is that you might be missing out on other nutrition. So one of the reasons fruit makes you so hungry might be that you are not pairing the carbs up with protein and fat.
While this might not be exceptionally healthy, I have decided that when my favourite fruit and veggies are in season I will pig out on them and cut back on the grains group somewhat, since bread and cereal is available all year round. This way I am still meeting or just exceeding my calorie requirements and maintaining a macronutrient balance I am comfortable with.

For me that means it`s time to eat more, cause all of a sudden there`s more room for it to go in. :D
Fruit is healthy but you also want to make sure you are getting adequate grains, protein, fat and veggies. If that is in place then you are ok unless it causes gi issues
I just started this website today and so far, my calorie intake was lesser than I thought and most of my food intake were fruits and no veggies! Anyways, for me fruit is really really good for the body not only when your dieting but it really is good for the body and besides it's natural sugar and it ain't that bad. However, fruit is also known to have types of acid such as citric acid and all those stuff and if your stomach only contained fruits it may lead to too much acidity and so your stomach might feel funny.
Eating too much fruits is not really bad as long as you add enough carbohydrates, protein, fats, and all those stuff.
And yes I agree summer is the fruit season and I think I'm eating too much watermelon!
I also thought the same as the previous posts...as long as I stay in my calorie range I can eat as much fruit as I want....then I noticed I was going over the sugar requirement for my calorie level every day..and not eating processed sugar, it was all fruit.
I also found an ask Mary question that led me to the following link:http://www.mypyramid.gov/professionals/food_t racking_wksht.html
I had thought I was supposed to eat 5 servings of fruit and veggies, but according to the food pyramid, this is not really what is recomended for me, 1200 cals.
Now I try to eat fruit only 2x a day and keep my sugar intake under 50 grams, which is HARD!! I love fruit and would eat it all the time, but I have a much more varied diet now trying to eat other things rather than fruit.
If that's unhealthy, then I'm screwed! I looooove fruit :)
Hi there i just started today and this is my first participation ^^
well, depending on the little knowledge i know my advice to eat as much as u want from fruit, however don't eat anything like Mango, Figs or Banana after 6 pm.
just to be in the safe side. but u can eat strawberries, watermelon or anything light i guess.
but my advice is to eat vegetable more at night because too much fruit makes the stomach full of acid as azumi0kevin said ![]()
In a typical day I usually have an apple, a banana, and about 30 grapes. Or instead of grapes or the banana, I will have a couple clementines.
haha yeah what puh8suwrux said. I remember a couple days in a row I ate a lot of fruit and had some digestive problems... I say, if it's balanced, your fine.
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
