I just finished eating eight kiwis.....is that healthy? As soon as I put one down i just had to pick up another! How is that going to affect my diet and calories now?

Probably not healthy to do it all the time... but you probably ate approximately 400 calories since kiwis have somewhere around 50 each, so just pick up and move on.

Just stay close to the toilet.... kiwifruit have powerful laxative properties and you might get an attack of the squits.

Too much fruit is bad !! Fruits have carbohydrates and the more carbohydrates you eat the higher your insulin-levels will be, and the higher your insulin levels the more fat-storage and the more water-retention.  So control your cravings for fruit.  The key to weight loss is controlling the amount of carbohydrates we eat in the whole day.

Yes you can eat kiwis and apples but only a couple of them a day, try to get most of your calories from protein

Nobody is going to be able to give you a good answer about whether or not eating a bunch of a single fruit is 'healthy'.  Do kiwis have lots of healthy vitamins and nutrients? yup, would you be healthy if you ate nothing but kiwis? nope.

You need to look at your entire diet, everything you ate today, yesterday, this week, this month, etc instead of worrying about single food items.

Nobody here can tell you how it's goint to affect your diet because we don't know what your diet consists of.  It's going to affect your calories by increasing your calorie total for today by however many calories are in 8 kiwis.

It doesn't matter how many times you keep repeating the same BS, it's just as wrong now as it was the last time, or the time before that.

The key to weightloss is consuming fewer calories than you burn.  Simple physics.

Nobody has ever gotten fat from eating fruit.

Low-carb dieting sounds like BS to you because you are ignorant about the physiological process and how our hormones work in order to lose weight efficiently.  But i don't care about you, you can get fat if you want.   But if you were well-read like me, maybe you would take my advice.  But go ahead keep induling yourself in rice, pancakes, bread and white potatoes.  You will look like Jessica Alba indeed !!

Read a couple of books on insulin and carbohydrates. Book-reading won't bite you :-)

I'm not sure that floggingsully would want to look like Jessica Alba. He'd have to get a lot of surgery, and it would probably cut into his lifting schedule.

Right, because we're going to take a person who's online handle is "binge_eater"s word as gospel.  Low carb got debunked years ago.  Give me a break.

And enough with the name calling. You're the only one on this thread advising people avoid entire food groups.

binge_eater, has it occurred to you that calling yourself an expert and stating that you've read books (we are all quite impressed, I'm sure), really doesn't help your case?

I could claim to be a world renowned expert on nutrition and fat loss (I'm not), but seeing as how I'm on an anonymous forum, nobody is going to take my word for it unless I can back it up with some good information.

You've repeated spewed pure tripe, and then insult the people who call you out on it. Not to mention have also shared some information about your eating habits that make any advice you give extremely suspect.

Meh. They're natural sugars.  Yes, 8 kiwis is probably too many, but fruit in general is not bad for you.

Technically, many veggies are fruits... pepper, zucchini, cucumber, etc.

There is a reason he is on my ignore list. Too bad it doesn't work when he gets quoted. heh

UD

I just ate 2 pop-tarts and ice cream....I wish I had only had 8 kiwis right now hehe.

Holy ****!! EIGHT kiwis??? Haha that's just impressive.

If you eat 8 kiwis everyday, I don't think that's good. If this was a one time thing, then you're fine. And yeah, stay near the bathroom :D

I could easily eat 8 kiwis in a day. I don't really see what the big deal is.

UD

It depends on sooo many things. everyone's body is different therefore what is ok for you, may not be ok for someone else!!! Eight kiwis seems a bit obsessive, but its better than eight bagles or doughnuts. And yes, fruits are carbs, but so what! I mainly eat carbs and I'm smaller at 32 than I was in highschool. More than likely your body was craving certain nutrients that are in kiwis ... i'm on a grape kick myself. so, no worries. Just next time, maybe spread it out a bit like say, two kiwis in the morning, two in the afternoon and so on. It may be a lil easier on your tummy that way!

you all may be against binge_eater but he does have some good points.

kiwi's being a fruit, are quite high in sugar. Yes, this is natural sugar, but despite your belief system the body doesn't know the difference between natural and refined sugar. Sugar is sugar nonetheless. It has 4 calories to the gram and spikes insulin levels.

**the body can tell the difference between carbohydrates (starch, fiber and sugar)... but sugar is sugar regardless if it comes from fruit or white table sugar. The only difference is that natural occuring sugars are usually paired with vitamins, minerals, and fiber which helps to slow digestion... and refined sugar typically has no nutritional value besides extra energy aka calories.

The reason you ate 8 kiwis is because the sugar in the fruit raises your blood sugar and causes the body to release feel good hormones causing a "high". Yes fruit has a seductive sweetness. Sugar is a drug, it tastes good, and it makes you feel good temporalily, it spikes your insulin levels and drops them soon after, causing you to want to eat more.. and the cycle repeats.

Fruit is healthy... in moderation. As is everything.

But notice how it's so much easier to overeat things high in sugar and carbs? This is one of the ideas behind the "low carb diets", carbs taste good and make us feel good, making us want to eat more.

I'd like to see you eat 8 chicken breasts at once... probably not so easy eh?

The key to weightloss is keeping your blood sugar levels steady, and limiting high GI foods is the best way to do so. When blood sugar drops and you feel hungry, the first thing you're going to crave is carbs.

Carbs= quick energy

by eating freguently (5-6 meals a day) and keeping a good balance of carbs, protein and fats in your meals, you'll be able to control hunger more easily and avoid future sugar-binges

...

but hey we all have those days sometimes, right? Just pick yourself up and continue on with your healthy eating plan... and maybe add a little extra excersize today or tomorrow to help counteract the unplanned calories

What is with Jessica Alba? Binge_eater, you seem to have a celebrity obsession. Might I point out, reading magazines that make up stories about celebrities does not mean you actually know what those celebrities do to stay in shape - I'm assuming much of it isn't that healthy.

I've probably eaten 8 kiwifruit in a day several times. Not all at once, but kiwifruit are pretty small. I've never found my weight negatively affected by eating lots of fruit.

...And I don't binge eat, either.
