Since everything I type on this site gets deleted by one of our lovely moderators
. I will ask in plain English:
Can a person overeat on fruit?
Lets say my "friend" ate 3456 days ago
-1 melon (cantouloupe)
-20 cherries
-4 watermelon wedges
-2 apricots
Did he overeat?
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss forum to Foods forum
I don't have an answer for you, but I've wondered the same thing. Fruit is low calorie, but really high in sugar, and sugar is not your friend when you are trying to lose weight.
"your friend" needs to eat some protein, whole grains, dairy, veggies and fats.
"your friend"'s post is also subject to be deleted.
If that was the case I would certainly be dead. As a doornail.
I'm currently doing a 4 week purification program that consists of eating fruits and vegetables only plus a whole food protein shake 3x daily. Before anyone tells me I'm starving myself...hold the phone....my calorie intake is reasonable even by Calorie Count standards and I'm getting plenty of vitamins, minerals, protein, etc....
And considering I'm not a huge veggie lover(I eat what I can) my main food intake has been fruit, every kind there is, prepared every way possible. So no, I don't think you can over-eat fruit. Keep in mind also that this is only for 4 weeks, at that point I will be adding in whole grains, lean protein, dairy, etc. I wouldn't recommend eating only fruit any longer than that. Just one persons opinion:)
As we have told you many many many times before it is not too much fruit but it is too little calories overall and too little of proteins, fats and other nutrients one needs for a balanced diet. Over time, your body will break down from lack of nutrition and you are only 14 now but in time your diet can have long-term consequences which you may have to deal with for the rest of your life.
The Body Neglected (explains what happens when you undereat a long time)
How many more times do we need to tell you the same thing? How many more people do you need to hear it from before you are convinced it's unhealthy? At Calorie Count we cannot and will not support unhealthy eating habits, so if you are looking for justification for your diet you will not find it here. However, if you want to learn about nutrition and a balanced diet, we can most certainly help you and are more than happy to do so.
You didn't mention if you ARE eating other things. Are you? Fruit is healthy, but not alone. I eat tons of fruit! Apples and bananas are my bestfriends. Your a teenager and your body requires alot of calories. Listen to what you've been told. EAT!!!!! You have the rest of your life to look forward to, don't do this to yourself. You'll regret it when you get older and understand. OK? I know teenagers think they know it all, but you don't. Listen to us!!! :)
Once again, thank you for noticing how lovely our moderators are. ![]()
Depending on how you choose to look at it, you're over eating on fruit. It looks like you're having about 10 servings of fruit per day and nothing else. This is not healthy or balanced. 2-4 servings would be according to the food pyramid, if you're getting all of your other grains and proteins and fats, then eating a bit more fruit shouldn't be a problem.
You can over eat in fruit if you are just eating fruit, but if you eat fruits and veggies (including nuts) adequate enough to have a balanced diet, then you can live a healthy raw lifestyle.
Did you hear about that one celebrity that only ate fruits and veggies for two weeks and lost weight! "crash diet" but hey it worked. The fruits were lean though like strawberries and all that
