No fruit at home! :|
Today I only had 3 pieces of real fruit (I don't eat any vegetables because I'm a HUGE sugar addict and I hate most vegetables anyways) because the only fruit left at my dad's house were some bad apples and a tiny piece of watermelon! :/
So I had to eat mostly processed foods today. I ate some fruit granola bars though made with a tiny bit of fruit, but I don't think that's good enough.
I mean, I was still pretty healthy, I ate a whole bunch of low-fat ice cream and that's it for unhealthy stuff, and even then I always eat a lot of low-fat ice cream so it doesn't matter much :/
Does anyone else have this problem a lot? I feel so weird now even though I normally eat like this a lot of the time.
Lolwutterson,
Don't worry about not having a lot of fruit today. Talk to family members and the next time you will be on track. All Fruit and Vegetables have natural sugar and are all healthy for you. Stay away from candy of any kind and soda this was my problem. You are eating very health already, keep it up.
Fruits and vegetables make up only one level of the entire food pyramid. You should also be concentrating on making sure that you take in enough whole grains, dairy, and meat as well. If you find yourself struggling to consume sufficient amounts of certain vitamins, then it is advisable for you to incorporate some fortified foods into your diet. I am personally a big fan of fortified soy milk, which serves as a good source of several key vitamins and nutrients. However, that is not the only option, of course. And while including fortified foods and beverages can be helpful, they should not completely replace any of the key food groups.
Yeah, I usually eat a pretty balanced diet most of the time. I eat a lot of cereals and whole-grain bread, along with protein for dinner every night. For dairy I eat cheese sometimes. It's so good. ;D
I don't really struggle to get anything in my diet. I eat a lot of vitamins too.

Well, then it's probably not worth worrying yourself over a single day or two of a slightly unbalanced diet. Just be sure to resume your healthy eating habits as soon as you get the chance.

:D I love soymilk, and I drink it every day. Of course, I am allergic to milk.. but still!

Whatever works.
You definitely don't need to worry about not getting your fruits in for one day. I and almost all other Beachbody fans use Michi's Ladder. You can find it on my website (which is listed in my profile here on CC), but it groups foods in different tiers. The top tier is all good foods which range from fats to carbs to proteins. If you eat from the top two tiers, you are doing great. It just gives you a good idea of the types of foods you should be eating aside from only fruits.
But I also highly recommend trying to eat some veggies. Fruits are good for you but they are high in sugars which isn't the greatest. Clearly it's better than going and eating processed foods like chips, cookies or chex mix, but they are still high in sugars. Veggies offer many necessary vitamins and minerals with low calories and low sugars.
It's alright, I have loads of fruit at home now. :P
In fact, I'm eating a LOT of fruit right now. Like, when I'd usually grab a granola bar, I eat three 50-calorie fruits instead. My current favourite is starfruit.
