does fruit make you hungrier?

hello, I notice when I eat fruit for a snack I end up even hungrier later, this is especially true with apples but happens with all fruits....why is that!?

It's probably the sugar content.  Try eating it with a protein, like peanut butter, to make it more satiating.

in my physical education class, we're currently doing the nutrition segment.

apparently, one apple takes only half an hour to digest.
a good sized steak? approx six hours.

that's probably why you feel hungry after eating only an apple. but if its a snack, then its only meant to tide your hunger for a while anyway.

foods with more protein generally take longer to digest, so like veganpancake said, peanut butter would help it last longer. ever try dipping a banana in peanut butter? it's yummy!

Sugars make me hungrier too because the taste stimulates my appetite and because fructose is a monosaccharide (simple sugar) it's quickly broken down and hence doesn't keep me full for long. Polysaccharides (starches) and proteins take longer to be broken down so you should eat them if you want to be satiated.

I have the same thought when I eat a fruit; I'm never very satisfied and if anything it actually makes me more hungry.  I'll reach for a protein bar or even a small piece of chicken instead.  Someone gave me a bunch of grapefruits from thier tree and I have been eating them, but they're pretty darn yummy and sweet.  Been eating a pudding cup around the same time, so maybe that add protein trick is worth a try?

Yep some fruits, like apples. But I find if I make apple sauce and just eat that I don't get hungry so quickly, might be because I eat it still warm though so that might have an effect?

Thanks for all the info, yeah like 20 min after eating an apple or pear I'm ravenous! Thanks for all the tips and support, its great to hear from everyone :)
