Fruit messing up my sugar%

Quote  |  Reply

Ok so this weekend I went to the Farmers market and picked up a ton of fresh ripe fruit.  So Sat, Sun and Monday my sugar % has been over 150%.  Now what I'm wondering is, is this a bad thing.  I felt like I was doing something healthy when I bought all of that produce but now that I've logged it I am second guessing myself.  I ate about 4-6servings of fruit each day including Mangos, bananas, apples, sstrawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and pineapple.  Do I need to cut it back or is it OK since it is natural sugar and it is helping me hit my vitamins for the day?

If you're worried about the sugar half that fruit would still have tons of vitamins. But unless you have blood sugar problems like pre-diabetes or hypoglycemia it shouldn't be a big deal.

You can have too much of a good thing....  If you're eating too much fruit, it's not the sugar that's a problem per se.  It's that you're probably not getting enough of something else in your diet.  An imbalance.  If it's only for a few days that's OK.  If it you were to continue, it might be different.

This prompts a question for me. How many grams of sugar should a person try to stay under. Is there a recommendation as in sodium not over 2400 gms? I would really like to know where to find this information as my sister is diabetic and I am a sugar addict and would like to head this disease off by monitoring my daily intake. Thanks for any answers you might have for me!
