frustration
I need help. I really work hard to lose my weight. Working out with a trainer, eating healthy and even started to eat breakfast.
Went on the scale this morning, gained half a pound. It made me really upset. I worked so hard in the gym. Worked so hard not to eat anything wrong or in between. Ate small meals and snacks, pushing away all the urges to binge (my biggest issue) and still no reward.
Any input about why I am not losing weight? Gaining even?
Hey, titantansy. How long did it take you to gain 1/2 pound? How much weight are you trying to lose? What does your personal trainer say?
There are people here who can help you, but we need to understand more about your goals.
Hang in there.
I gained this weight in about 5 days while expected to lose. My trainer is somewhat confused and thinks that I am cheating with food and I know I am not.
I have to lose 37 pounds, an horrible amount of fat but I am very determent to do this.
I eat a lot of veggies, barely any meat. Didn't drink alcohol or any sugar drinks. I stay away from bread because I am allergic to yeast.
Any suggestions are welcome.
What are your stats (age, gender, height, weight), and how many calories are you eating per day?
age: old (45)
height: short (5 ft. 1)
female (that is a good thing)
weight: too much (151)
I am eating no more then 1400 calories a day. Working out most every day, twice a week with a trainer.
A half pound gained may be nothing but a bit of extra fluid/water retention. There is so much fluctuation that I only watch my trend line now, and it keeps going down :)
You burn about 1700 if you are sedentary. If you lose 26 lbs (gw 125), you will be right in the middle of the healthy bmi for your height and age. If I calculated right, you are aiming for 114 and that's a pretty low bmi-still healthy, but maybe hard to hit b/c it's so hard to lose that last 10 lbs.
You don't say what your workout is, but if you are buring even 200 cals with exercise, then your minimum daily burn is about 1900. Take away the 1400 you eat, that gives you a deficit of 500. I would not change anything if I were you UNLESS you think you are exercising a lot more and having a much bigger deficit. A deficit routinely over 1000 can really sabotage your efforts.
Good luck.
I let the CC website do my calculation and it said that I would be 115 in June. I like that.
I used to be around 100 lbs but that is long ago and I am not aiming for that anymore. I am sure that I will be happy with 120 lbs. I also let the CC website calculate my calorie intake and it did calculate the 1400 calories with my workout schedule. I burn around 300 calories most of my workouts.
We'll see. It is just very frustrating when you do everything they tell you to do, and you still can't seem to shed some pounds.
Don't get hung up on daily values. As others have pointed out weight flactuates because of water retention etc. Look at the trends instead.
As a personal example this week my weight flactuated from 132-136, and now back to 133 range. Did I gain and loose all that fat? Of course not, it was all water retention, etc.
Yeah, don't feel bad. If you are sticking to your calorie goal and working out, you're doing it right. Personally I have a lot of fluctuation in my weight. One day last weekend, I got up and weighed about 193. I weighed myself various times throughout the day and found that I got all the way up to 199! The next morning I was back down to 193 again. There is a lot of variation even in a single day.
