I'm a 22 year old teacher from moses lake, washington... I started this website and my exercise program about 2 months ago- my goal is 60 pounds by next year.
It's really frustrating to me because I have been so careful and working out really hard but there hasn't really been that big of a difference. I lost about 8 pounds in the 5-6 weeks, but then I gained it all back over spring break! (that one was my fault, vacation is so hard!!)
I am usually hungry and usually wanting something to eat that I can't have (isn't that all of us :) )If it's not in front of me I'm fine, but if it's in the line of vision i have very little self control- and unfortunately my office doubles as a mini-lounge for my department so people are always putting snacks in here!!
Anyway, I'm back on track and am seeing it slowly go down again- I need some success stories to motivate me and someone to tell me I'm not alone!
Thanks!!!

Well, I have only lost about 5 pounds in the last month or so, but I can tell you that when you take charge of your health (especially here), it won't take long for you to feel better.
I started off about a year ago eating about 2400 calories a day. Now I'm down to 1300. I never thought that would be possible, but it is. I can constantly monitor my food intake with this website and I can make positive changes. In all (over the past year) I've lost 35 lbs and have about 85 to go.
You can do it! I promise! Just hang in there and give yourself a chance to succeed.
Feel free to add me as a friend.
Kirsten :)

hi hun, while i can not tell you a sucess story because i am still working on this myself, i can say your not alone. i have to back cookies at work and there is normally cookies and chips laying around all over the place. so i know what it is like when the evil stuff stares you in the face and goes "come on....just one bit it wont hurt your diet....just one bit" ..when it knows perfectly well that one bit leads to half the bag.....evil munchies.
i know you can do this. it may "hurt" for awhile to tell that piece of junk food that "no i can not eat you"..it well pass and get easyer. i normally try to keep good stuff that i can eat laying around to so that way its not so bad. i have speical k bars in my car and keep low fat/ low cal dressing in the friage at work. that ay if i want a salad all i have to do is bring it with me or get it at lunch...no worring about the dressing.
the first few weeks are the hardest as i am sure you know. but it can be done, dont give up ok.

you're not alone. feel better? :) and i'm just over in lewiston, almost within spitting distance.
this kind of change takes work. i've been here since the end of january. weight loss to date: 8 lbs. but i've lost inches, feel better, look better and don't feel the need to eat all the time, and when i do, i'm making better choices, although today i did have wendy's chicken nuggets and a small sundae from dairy queen, oh well, i'll run it off tonight.
but you can do this, and this is a good place to start. good luck and hang in there.

I started being healthy on Jan. 1st but started this site in Feb. I lost 20 pounds but gained back 3 pounds during Easter weekend for a total of 17 pounds gone. You will have those weekend where you make bad choices and gain some weight but don't let it get you down. This is a new week and I am back working hard. I have faith that those 3 pounds will be gone by the end of next week and then I have about 10 more pounds to reach my goal. Good luck and never give up, every day is a new day!
thank you to everyone! it's amazing how much easier it can be just to have a little feedback from some people who are going through the same thing- thank you so much!!!!
and everything you are all saying i just smile and think...soo true... (evil junk food:)
again, thank u

I've been using this site since the beginning of March and as of today I've lost 5.5 lbs. It's not a super success, but it sure is better than GAINING 5.5 lbs!
It's tough but we can all do anything we put our minds to. And doing it together just makes it that much easier!

Hang in there... Your on the right road... 5.5 pounds is a good step in the right direction . I would rather see those numbers go up then up.
My story, I changed my lifestyle in Jan weighing 228 lbs. I weigh 202 now. I still have over 60 pounds to go ... But it's one day at a time. Hopefully sometime next year I will reach my goal. One of my best friends now are baby carrots ...when others are eating chips ( my weakness) I get my bag of carrots.

You are so not alone ... we all started out somewhere, right?
I lost 25 pounds between June and September, and plateaued. Then I found this site on January 30th, and since then I've lost 13.5 pounds. 38.5 pounds down total ... I was able to say 40.5 for about a day ... then Easter came along n I gained a pound n a half back ... can't wait til this weekend's weigh-in, I know I've done well so far this week. So all in all, I went from a grand total of 200 pounds on my 5'2" frame to 161. 38.5 down, 31.5 to go.
I'd always thought I'd never lose my weight ... figured I'd just steadily keep gaining til I blew up, lol. The point is ... if I can do it, YOU can definitely do it.
We're here for ya, for support and help and just ... here lol. Feel free to add me to your friends list if you want, I'm adding you to mine if tha'ts alright. I'd like to hear about your progress as you go. Good luck. ~Christina

Hey tracy, just added you back, too. Looked at your profile ... do you REALIZE that you're exactly 3 days older than me? :-D Lol, sorry, just thought that was pretty cool ... I can be a bit of a nerd sometimes.
Edited: Scratch that, I read the 9 as an 8 LOL .. See, I AM a huge nerd. :-D

It's easy to put on weight over holidays, 'cause of the big meals and candy everywhere. If you can, try to treat the big feasts like any other meal, and eat everything in moderation. If you have some of the candy, try to keep it down to one piece, and work it into your calories. Try to keep up your exercise like normal, if at all possible. That should prevent the lbs from creeping back on your breaks.
The problem with snacks in your office, well, maybe you should do what I do. I live with people who aren't dieting, and they always have a lot of yummy snacks and treats around the house. The only way I survive the temptation is to tell myself those treats don't belong to me. If you think of it as stealing if you eat it, you're less likely to do it (and will feel twice as guilty if you do take any!).
