Frustration with the scale! Advice?
I am 54 years old and currently on the drug aromasin treating breast cancer. I was put into early menopause by chemotherapy 4 years ago and have gained the usual menopausal weight. I cannot lose it. On top of that my scale gives me a different weight wherever I put it. what's the best way to weigh yourself and the best type of scale. I exericise 30 ,minutes per day and eat very well. I'm just really unhappy with my very middle-aged body and would like some encouragement! Thanks so much!
To the scale question: Don't be a slave to the scale to the point that it causes stress when you see the result. Put the scale in one place and try not to move it. Weigh yourself at the same part of the day and consider not weighing in every day but maybe once every three days or even once a week. I went on a quest for a better scale but realized that I'm more interested in a lower number than an EXACT number when I weigh.
Best of luck to you!
Hi there!
I understand (at least in part) your struggle with cancer. I had a bout with stomach cancer and am now in remission for the past nine months. I wish you all the best with that!
As for the scale, I put it on a hard, even floor surface, and weigh myself every morning, right away, after I have used the bathroom and before I have had anything to eat or drink. If I weigh myself throughout the day, my weight can go up or down (usually up) five or so pounds. I don't let these daily fluctuations bother me, and if it ever starts to, I will weigh myself less often. Don't let it dissappoint you. If it motivates or informs you, great, but if it is discouraging, don't worry too much
Finally on types of scales, I love my body composition measurer. It weighs you, and also tells you (with a small amount of reliability) your body fat %, BMR, and muscle mass. it's alot of fun, but again, it can drive you crazy if you let it.
